Overhead Wires Presents
"Rising Stars" is our regular event to showcase musical talent from the under 18s. From being in bands ourselves from the age of 15, we understand how frustratingly difficult it can be at that age to get gigs, with 18+ licensing restrictions on certain venues. As such, we host this gig bi-monthly to provide a platform for younger musicians.
Saturday 11th February features:
Hannah is a 16 year old contemporary folk artist from Brighton, influenced by Laura Marling, Damien Rice, Ben Howard and Paolo Nutini.
Zoe is a self taught singer-songwriter attempting to replicate the vibes of the heavier bands that shes listen to with just an acoustic guitar and voice. She has recently spent a month gigging in Greece and has supported top Brighton bands Half Crown and The Others Brothers.
Luvia is a 17 year old Americana pop artist influenced by Lana Del Rey, Stevie Nicks and Amy Winehouse.
Rifka is a young singer with pelenty of talent in the bag already, having picked up a microphone aged about 4 and writing her first song at around 8. Her music tugs at emotions she doesn't seem old enough to have experienced. Influences range from Birdy, France Halsey, Sia, Ed Sheeran, and Monsters & Men.
