Alfie Brown: Imagination

After a sell out Edinburgh run which garnered incredible reviews Alfie is taking his brand new show on Tour around the UK and Europe. This year he is focused on family, friendship and inherited belief. Truly subversive and almost torridly honest, a true room distilling comedian, like him, the new hour will be loving, dangerous, inquisitive and disgusting. It is tricky to write 350 sensible words, when you come out a show simply thinking Wow! F*ck! Wow! (Scotsman). The British Doug Stanhope (Guardian). The Times, The Evening Standar

Kiefer Sutherland // The Leadmill, Sheffield

Crosstown Concerts presents Kiefer Sutherland Reckless & Me Tour + special guests The Leadmill, Sheffield Watch the video for Something You Love (Live from Berlin) here: https://youtu.be/RFjoWWfn2RA Kiefer Sutherland has announced that he will be returning to the UK early in 2020 for a string of UK dates (full dates below). Sutherlands second album, the 10-song Reckless & Me, arrived earlier this year on a wave of praise and a deluxe edition of the album is available now via BMG. Reckless & Me Special Edition includes the original album along with a bonus disc featuring Sutherlands full concert in Berlin. Recorded on March 1, 2019 at SchwuZ in Berlin, Germany, the live disc captures an energetic and dynamically-tight set from Kiefer and his band. Reckless & Me delivers Sutherlands Americana and country rock-infused songwriting style and highlights his gift of soulful storytelling. On the bonus disc, Live In Berlin, Sutherland gets to dive deeper into storytelling and reveals some personal anecdotes behind the songs. Weve played so many shows over the past five years, to have one of them recorded so that fans who couldnt make a show because we didnt play in their particular town or city, is very special to me. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed playing it. Reckless & Me holds beautifully arranged ballads and authentic country rockers such as the albums lead single, Open Road, This Is How Its Done and Something You Love all delivered with Sutherlands distinctive, whiskey-soaked and gravel-laced voice. Produced by Jude Cole, Reckless & Me marks the follow up to Sutherlands critically acclaimed debut album, Down In A Hole (2016). The Guru Guru / Poly Math / Trigger Thumb / Vogons

Mentholman Promotions presents: The Guru Guru play at Sheffield on WEDNESDAY 26TH FEBRUARY at WEST STREET LIVE. GURU WHAT? The Guru Guru have been happily dealing in Borderline Rock. Imagine: lead vocals wearing a multicolored strait-jacket, haunted by feverish guitars and a tormented rhythm section. While influences are drawn from the likes of METZ, Pere Ubu, Deerhoof, The Jesus Lizard, The Mars Volta & Andy Kaufman, the indie-math- psycho-noise rulebook is torn apart, resulting in erratic songs that somehow seem to develop into wriggling earworms. Praised for their live performances, THE GURU GURU is a must-see... With palpable, electric energy oozing from the stage, vocalist Tom Adriaenssens balances on the verge of theatrical psychosis. Touring highlights include: ArcTanGent (UK), Portals (UK), Ment (SLO), Monkey Week (ESP), Rock Herk (BE), Sziget (HU), Pukkelpop (BE) , etc... They played +- 150 domestic and international shows (France, Spain, UK, Reunion Island, Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia) in the last 2 years. After releasing a promising EP, 7 inch, 10 inch (split record with fierce trio Brutus) and their debut album PCHEW, they are now ready to release their 2nd full album POINT FINGERS, produced by Wouter Vlaeminck (Raketkanon, Kapitan Korsakov, etc.), mixed by David Bottrill (King Crimson, Tool, Coheed and Cambria, etc.) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Chelsea Wolfe, Deerhunter, Lightning Bolt, etc.). GURU KNOW NO? After the release of their debut-album PCHEW and an ever- building live reputation both domestic and international, THE GURU GURU are back! With their second album they dig even deeper into the turmoil of their music and its non-stop madness. The power of nature over reason After pushing musical and personal boundaries their multicolored strait-jacket vocals, feverish guitars and tormented rhythm section has evolved into an album which defines the band even more. I haven\'t been sincere like this before (- Tom The Bomb). Instead of being in the nuthouse they now own the asylum and welcome you all to be folded origamiwise. Temples // The Leadmill, Sheffield

Temples return to The Leadmill as part of our 40th-anniversary celebrations. Tickets are on sale now! It is one of the brilliant facets of recorded music that while it can frame forever in time one of humanitys most fluid art forms, those captured sounds themselves can go on to become an active launchpad for the ideas, memories, emotions and feelings of those listening. Returning with their third album, Hot Motion, Temples have not just provided a strong demonstration of this dual static/frenetic nature, but theyve created a record that revels in this beautiful contradiction. A brilliantly crafted, thoughtfully recorded collection, the albums propulsive, seemingly immediate songs soon reveal an impressive depth of ideas and energy with subsequent listens because, as its title warns, Hot Motion is not a record that stands still.

The Rumjacks Sheffield Corporation

The Rumjacks Plus support Mick O\'Toole The Gallowgate Murders "Its like growing up with a tear in your eye and a storm brewing in your heart.. muses frontman Frankie McLaughlin on the musical heritage of the group. We were raised on the Scottish & Irish music in our parents record collection, before colliding head-on with Punk Rock as we grew older & thought we knew everything. These two immovable pillars define The Rumjacks above all else, as they continue to cut their own path through the tangled musical landscape before them. Their own brand of Celtic Punk has seen them release two EPs Hung, Drawn & Portered & Sound as a Pound (09), as well as three powerful full length albums Gangs of New Holland (10), Sober & Godless (15), & Sleepin Rough (16). Since the bands inception in Sydney, Australia in late 2008 when McLaughlin met Bassist Johnny McKelvey, they have racked up millions of YouTube views, with over 24 million of these alone for their breakthrough track An Irish Pub Song. Other stunning videos that capture the incredible live energy of the band include Uncle Tommy, Blows & Unkind Words & Plenty, while Crosses for eyes and Me Old Ball & Chain see them hard at work in the studio. The videos for Home, One Summers Day weremade while The Rumjacks were on tour, and stand testament to the bands enormous appeal wherever they go. Their incendiary live performances and seemingly endless touring regime has seen them share the stage with acts as diverse as Dropkick Murphys, The Interrupters, Anti Flag, CJ Ramone, The Real McKenzies, Gogol Bordello, Ruts DC, Guttermouth, GBH, UK Subs and The Aggrolites. Were at home on any lineup in front of any crowd, I think there are elements of what we do that must appeal to just about anyone. Indeed there are from their heavy Celtic roots to the driving punk rock or even ska/reggae rhythms, well-oiled sing-alongs & choking ballads. We draw on so many influences, but still its important for us to force the bounds of what we already do, play good solid Punk rock with a fat smear of Celtic folk right through it, Hopefully contributing something fresh & substantial thatll stick around in peoples hearts long after the partys over.. 2015 marked a real tipping point for the band, when after wowing home crowds with several appearances at the prestigious Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia, they embarked on a hugely successful tour of Europe playing to over 50,000 people. Absolutely crushing just about any bands must do list, they took in the likes of Boomtown Fair (UK), Montelago Celtic Festival (Italy) and Jarocin Festival (Poland), as well as sell-out shows at many iconic club venues like The Garage (London), Wild At Heart (Berlin) and Rock Cafe (Prague). Barely stopping to cool their jets, the band made a triumphant return to the festivals and concert halls of Europe & The UK in 2016, playing almost a hundred dates over some 24 countries. Inciting hysteria & pushing their own physical barriers as they went, the boys chalked up plumb appearances at some of Europe\'s hottest festivals, including; Punk Rock Holiday, Lowlands Festival, Exit Festival, Rock marathon, Mighty Sounds, Germany\'s Taubertal & Open Flair Festivals, and Woodstock Festival in Poland, attended by half a million people. Somehow in the midst of all this they managed to release their third album \'Sleepin\' Rough. Along with two dynamic new videos for the singles \'A Fistful o\' Roses\' and \'Patron Saint o\' Theives\' (the latter shot in Poland on a rare day off during their EU tour) the album has been met with critical acclaim the world over. 2017 see\'s The Rumjacks make their long awaited maiden foray into the USA & Canada. Where they will tear their way around from San Diego\'s tin roof in the gaslamp quarter, through New Orleans, Austin Texas for the SXSW Festival & up along the east coast into Canada. They\'ll return again in September after some more EU summer shows, to headline Californias Get Shamrocked festival. Watch this space.. though dont blink, or youre likely to miss em.

Bunkerpop deliver an experimental mash of energy and titivating instrumental & electronic sound with pronouncements. Hailing from Hull, City of Culture, they take their broad influences from such groups as Neu, Holy Fuck and Talking Heads. Bunkerpop live combines these musical charms with the excitement and visual stimuli of a Billy Graham, PFunk or Flaming Lips concert. Cult like worship is encouraged. Bunkerpop are the peoples band.....come join them. Things that others have said: Imagine if Bertolt Brecht came back from the dead, involved as much as he alienated, and made a kind of quirky Anglicised-version of Krautrock. Unique and brilliant - Louder Than War Magazine. A Super-sonic journey, a fantastic and delightful debut - INFL Bunkerpop are the ideal soundtrack to the 21st century. Neu meets Chicory Tip - WHFM BBC Radio Introducing \'Track(s) of the week\' (Are You Ready) for Something & Kijk. "Incredible track from Bunkerpop", "Invigorating and Eccentric", " Loveable Oddballs" - Gigwise Bunkerpop is a startling sonic triumph. Like JG Ballard or Philip K Dick on the dancefloor, its a groovy, trance-inducing mix of Krautrock, post-punk funk, mutant disco and electronica with nods to Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, Can, Neu and Talking Heads - The Cultural Assassin ShaSh: pushing the boundaries of empirical knowledge to bestow synthesized Xanthic science-pop upon the masses (yes), Celestial Broc and Bifidus Digestivum amuse themselves by making synth driven science pop for thoughtful Earth-dwellers. Think/Synth/PoP/ShaSh! Things that others have said: They could be on Stuart Maconies Freak Zone Lost Greystones drunk Electronica for the thinking man - tall Jimi Amazing to see a live act so left-field Lost Property, Hatch The first time Ive ever enjoyed electronic music Rek Laws dad They performed an inspired little number about the Fermi Paradox which is worthy of the prize for best song ever written about the universe (sorry Eric) Joyzine review JIMMY nom de pax: mysterious and elusive. No written words will suffice - you just have to come and see him to understand. Things that others have said: I was born at an early age, it hurt everyone I rememberI did some stuff, then did some other stuff, then didnt do some other other stuff but did do some other other other stuffnow here for nowfor no fracking, no WiFi, no arms trade, no government, no money. Close to realising at least the last one. Playing guitar and singing, goddess willing. Jimmy himself Dont worry because we are heading into a deep dark abyss. ST. Julian Cope // The Leadmill, Sheffield

English musician, writer, historian, and cosmic shaman Julian Cope came to fame in the late 70s and early 80s as the frontman for the Liverpudlian post-punk group Teardrop Explodes. An enigmatic storyteller, contrarian, mystic, and hallucinogen enthusiast, Cope embarked on a genre-defying solo career upon leaving the band in 1983. Beginning with World Shut Your Mouth in 1984, he released a string of LPs that married the Teardrops love of debauched psych-pop with folk, chamber pop, Krautrock, ambient/electronica, and space and alternative rock. He remained popular in the U.K. but didnt attain commercial success overseas until the release of the slickly produced Saint Julian in 1987, which featured the hits Trampolene and World Shut Your Mouth, the latter of which was performed live on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Released in 1991, Peggy Suicide saw Cope strip away the studio polish and deliver an ambitious and environmentally themed set of brooding funk, soul, folk, and cosmic garage rock, an aesthetic he would revisit again on 1992s Jehovahkill and 1994s Autogeddon. He continued to explore themes of neolithic history, rock & roll, cultural activism, ecology, and paganism well into the 2000s via eclectic left-field outings like Citizen Caind (2005), Psychedelic Revolution (2012), and Drunken Songs (2017). In addition to his musical works, which include stints with the bands Black Sheep and Brain Donor, Cope has written and published a number of books, ranging from a novel of fiction (One Three One) and a two-volume autobiography (Head On) to a pair of ornate coffee-table books on archaeology (The Modern Antiquarian and The Megalithic European) and guides to underground music in Germany (Krautrocksampler) and Japan (Japrocksampler).

Ida Wene & Samantha Whates - Caf #9, Sheffield

Ida Wene - www.idawenoe.com Bewitching acid folk with a deeply personal edge Clash Magazine Amongst a digital mountain range littered with accomplished folk-ish bands and singersongwriters, it is a rare miracle to come across a cave so rich in jewels as the one beneath Ida Wenes ribcage. While she has an obvious appreciation of Americana, her sound is very definitely laced with more English undertones: the kind of sound Edward Woodward might have heard downstairs in the local inn had the Wicker Man been filmed in a remote Danish village, while Sarah Lund scoured for clues in her jumper. Like the best of the Nordic Noir leaving the Danish mainland, the recordings are at once both sonically pure and grimy; theres a shared loneliness that makes you feel that youre not at all; and all the while there is an honesty to the songwriting that tugs at your sleeve. While her grasp of English is second nature, theres some of those intriguing turns of phrase that only a heart that dreams in another language can weave: The deep conceals things that are real/ look beyond the mirror/look beyond the mirror , I know we see things differently/as long as its not separately and Youre a fish in a bottle/a cock in a coop/the essence of trying Sure, she has the usual credible influences from Vashti to Joni, from Neil Young to Danish folk hero Sebastian; and theres hints of Sandy Denny and Linda Perhacs. But to list artists she sounds like would be to miss the point entirely. As anyone who has witnessed a live show can attest, Ida Wene is very definitely Ida Wene. As Carsten Holm at Danish Radio P6 Beat put it, she has an icy, almost Icelandic timbre. I havent heard this in any other Danish artist an incredibly strong vocal God Is In The TV Zine went on to say her voice boasts angelic notes which can often leak her endearing Danish roots Samantha Whates https://www.facebook.com/samanthawhatesmusic With Scottish roots, transplanted into Londons soil in her teenage years, Samantha Whates is a cosmopolitan Celt with equal parts concrete and heather to her music. In those songs, youre as likely to hear the breaking of day as you are broken hearts slowly mending, or just the conversational musings of people on their lunch break. All shades of human experience are subtly blended. Some people settle in The Smoke lose their accent, dizzied by Hackney Carriage fumes and too many rotations round the Circle Line. Samanthas delivery is smoothly Scottish to its core. Urban and urbane, youll hear the timeless qualities in her songs that songs that reflect the existences of real-life folk ought to possess. Samanthas live show lends itself to venues of any size, from the back room of a small-town pub to the largest of festivals and major London venues (Union Chapel, Cecil Sharp House, Tate Modern, Royal Festival Hall, Roundhouse). Her debut album, Dark Nights Make For Brighter Days & EP Trees & Gold, earned radio play transcending pure folk shows (BBC 6Music, Radio 2, KCRW, Resonance FM), as well as praise from a reassuringly large body of people who know their onions: The most beautiful album... Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2 "Just gorgeous." Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music "I love her voice" Dolly Parton

Everest Queen / Son Of Boar / Helve / Swamp Coffin / Le Menhir

Join us for a night of Sludge, Doom, Stoner and Post-Metal! Everest Queen are progressive sludge maestros from deepest Hertfordshire. We had the pleasure of putting the quartet on at Corporation in late 2018 and we are similarly honoured to have them back for their headline UK tour. Their 2019 debut album Dead Eden has not only been well received, but will undoubtedly be featured on numerous end of year lists in the coming weeks. Touring with them are the brilliant stoner / doomed heavy metallers Son Of Boar. These pals of ours are from just up the road in Bradford, and were chuffed to have them back for this leg of the tour. The Yorkshire quintet put out their debut EP A Tongueless Tale earlier this year, and its an absolute belter. Riffs, riffs and more riffs. Joining us for the show at the Mulberry will be a trio of support acts - Helve (doomed post-metal from Leeds) - a wonderfully progressive group that mix elements from their influences. Fans of The Ocean, Cult of Luna, Amenra and Hundred Year Old Man will be well catered for by this cracking group that weve been wanting to put on for a while now! Swamp Coffin (sludge/doom/stoner/metal from Rotherham) - a band thats quickly become a live favourite of ours over the past year. They knocked it out of the park when we saw them supporting King Witch, as well as at Doomlines in the summer, and theyll be doing it again on this bill, undoubtedly playing cuts from their cracking debut Flatcap Bastard Features. Le Menhir (post-metal / melodic doom from Sheffield) - since debuting in early 2018 it has been a pleasure to watch Paul create, adapt and grow his delicate doom project. Hell be kicking off the evening with a set that will surely see cuts from his awesome EP Ombre. Saturday 7th March 2020 The Mulberry Bar and Venue Tickets - 5 OTD Doors - 6pm

Twin Atlantic // The Leadmill, Sheffield

After ten years, Twin Atlantic got their Glasgow studio fully up-and-running. They gigged for thrills, and used the money to fund the album they wanted to make. They took charge of production. And only then, when all that was done and dusted, did they sign a new record deal. Yes, Twin Atlantic had to do everything themselves and theyd have had it no other way. Now theyre feeling empowered. Now theyre feeling POWER their scorching, charged-up fourth album. We have had a bit of a car crash moment, reflects Sam McTrusty, singer/guitarist with the Glasgow rock band. But its been all to the good. It focused our thoughts on what we wanted this next bit of our bands life to be like and sound like. And we had one guiding thought about the new album: how on the edge of thrilling can we make this? At Jacknife Lees (U2, The Killers) urging, after working together on the their last album, the band built their own studio in the unfussy space theyd had for the best part of a decade in a factory-turned-business centre in a slightly (shall we say) unloved corner of Glasgow. The Irishman assured the Scotsmen they had the knowledge and the skills. And the ear for it, notes McTrusty. He said: just put all your gear in the one room and make music like we make it in my studio. And we decided we werent going to have a single musical idea outside this room, says McNae. And that was so fucking difficult! laughs McTrusty. One aspect of that difficulty was the decision to change their relationship status with guitarist Barry McKenna. While their good friend remains an integral part of their live set-up, hes no longer involved in the studio. Simply, the new, post-Jacknife Lee era of Twin Atlantic creativity didnt sit so readily with him. Now he pours his own writing skills into music for film and TV, a creative outlet that speaks to his interests. The music poured out of them. The first song that emerged as a keeper was the hard rock New Romantic rush of I Feel It Too. You could call it an amped-up take on Duran Durans Planet Earth; Twin Atlantic wouldnt object. Its also their were not fucking about song. I Feel It Too felt like a blueprint for where they wanted to go: a place that was dark and euphoric at the same time. They wanted to dig back into the music they loved in their teens: less straight up guitar rock, more Depeche Mode, 2 Many DJs, the tunes spun at seminal Glasgow techno club Optimo. Then came Barcelona. Big chorus. Big balls. Lyrically, its McTrusty reflecting on the turbulent times in the band. But that feeling was juxtaposed with the most settled hes ever been in his private life. Hes been home in Glasgow for the longest period since Twin Atlantic started touring when he was 18, a situation reflected in his falling in love, getting married and recently becoming a dad. More change. Barcelona, then, is a hymn to her, and to the band. Also falling into the love-song-to-his-wife category is first single Novocaine albeit a love song with a racing, adrenalised synth-rock throb and pound. Its the most focused, autobiographical song on the album. And we\'re trying to tap into our LCD Soundsystem fandom, McTrusty grins. Thats something has basically never gone away. Theyve a band that use guitars and electronics in a way thats quite wholesome and never feels contrived. Elsewhere, on Messiah and Ultraviolet, Twin Atlantic cheerfully acknowledge the influence of Depeche Mode (stadium goth era). There is, too, the thunderous rave of Praise Me and a glorious chorus and kaleidoscopic vocal soundscapes on the sinuous Oh Euphoria. Finally theres Volcano, the first song from POWER be played live. Unveiled in August during blistering performances in Reading, Leeds and Glasgow, it has a tall-walking punk-funk swagger that hits you straight in the hips. We were shitting ourselves, admits Kneale. But it went down a storm. This, then, is POWER. Eight punchy tracks and two compelling interludes. No fat, no fuss, all fire, made by a band plugging in, turning it up and taking charge it was only once the album was completed that Twin Atlantic went back to record labels. The message: here are our new songs, take them and the band as you find us. Virgin EMI were only too happy to enthusiastically oblige. Theres not a single other thing we could have done to be back in control of our own futures, states Ross McNae of exactly the outcome they dreamt of two long years ago. This album: its just really free, and were really free, affirms Craig Kneale. There was no premeditation. Its just a fully creative entity, with no limitations. And we stayed true to that idea right till the very end. Hearing these songs, thats what I feel and hear: power, concludes Sam McTrusty. And thats what these songs, and the last two years have made us feel as a band: totally empowered.

Popestars (Ghost Tribute) Friday 13th Sermon At Corporation

Sheffield rats, are you on the level? Do you have Ghost? This will be the time to repent your sins to Lucifer in preparation of the resurrection, with the unholy trinity. Who are Popestars? A very special order of the UK Chapter of the Clergy. Beelzebub sent forth a new Papa with five new ghouls into the underground metal scene. There they have been secretly infiltrating heavy metal bands of the UK such as Cradle of Filth, Tigertailz, Evil Scarecrow, Forgotten Remains, Patriot Rebel, Kid Klumsy, and Emperor Chung. You may have already unknowingly been in their presence! To prepare for church refer to the four gospels, Opus Eponymous, Infestissumam, meliora and Prequelle. Jon Boden // The Leadmill, Sheffield

When the northern skies ignite, well be blinded by the light, sings Boden as he continues to barrel through a standout rendition of All The Stars Are Coming Out Tonight. It is a testament to his song writing that it works so beautifully. A song is anything that can walk by itself, urged Dylan on the jacket notes of Subterranean Homesick Blues and All The Stars takes to the room with a strut in its stride. Live review by Folk Radio, Jan 19 Jon Boden is best known is the lead singer of the progressive folk juggernaut Bellowhead who sold 250,000 album, had seven singles playlisted on Radio 2 and sold out hundreds venues including The Royal Albert Hall. Since Bellowhead split up in 2016 Jon has continued his development as one of the foremost names in English folk music. Solo Jon performs the self-penned songs of Painted Lady, material from Bellowhead, Spiers & Boden, Songs From The Floodplain, and his A Folk Song A Day project in which he recorded 365 folk songs in one year, material from his latest album Afterglow and more. Jons new album Afterglow was released in October 2017 and continues Jons explorations of a post-oil world, this time following the course of two lovers over the night of a fire-lit city carnival. The first single from the album All The Stars Are Coming Out Tonight was playlisted on BBC Radio 2. Recalling Gabriel-era Genesis with a dash of Bush and Bowie Observer Springy fingerpicking and rolling drums convey the thrill of an anarchic street celebration. Independent Vivid lyrics, striking imagery, fascinating ideas, challenging arrangements and Bodens characteristically striking vocalsit has to be considered a Major Work. fRoots Moths In The Gaslight has an affectingly melancholy melody; All The Stars Are Coming Out Tonight resurrects the brassy swagger of Bellowhead. ****Financial Times One of the best albums of 2017 Echoes & Dust

The Rifles Unplugged Tour // The Leadmill, Sheffield

British indie outfit the Rifles rose to popularity in the mid-2000s with a jaunty garage rock & roll sound thats equal parts Jam-like swagger and a playfulness not unlike contemporaries the Kooks. First grabbing public attention with the 2005 hit Local Boy, the band found chart success in the latter part of the decade with their first two albums reaching number two on the U.K. indie charts and 2009s career highlight Great Escape. Amid subsequent rock-oriented releases like 2014s None the Wiser, the Rifles also embraced the acoustic format, releasing a pair of acoustic EPs and a 2017 unplugged album which they recorded at Abbey Road. Members Joel Stoker (vocals), Lucas Crowther (guitar), Rob Pyne (bass), and Grant Marsh (drums) came together in London in 2003. They made their performance debut a year later and earned praise from NME and BBC Radio 1s Zane Lowe, who quickly championed the Rifles boyish rock & roll fun. Their debut, When Im Alone, arrived in May 2005 and did moderately well among their growing fan base, but it was Local Boy that gave the Rifles their first U.K. Top 40 hit that fall. Other chart hits, such as the Strokes-like Repeat Offender and Shes Got Standards, added to the bands heightened popularity in 2006. Produced by Ian Broudie (the Coral, the Subways, I Am Kloot), No Love Lost marked the Rifles debut full-length in July of that year. Additional U.K. club shows and appearances at the annual V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire followed in August. The 2007 single Talking was offered as a free download and inaugurated a new deal with 679 Recordings, which released the Rifles sophomore record, Great Escape, which made it to number two on the U.K. indie charts in 2009. Shortly after it was released, Marsh and Pyne bid farewell to the band and were replaced by Lee Burgess and Kenton Shinn, both of the band Garda. Acoustic 1, an EP of re-recorded old songs and a handful of new ones, appeared in 2010, followed a year later by their third LP, Freedom Run. A second volume of the Acoustic series was issued in 2012 as the Rifles began preparing for a fourth album with a PledgeMusic crowd-funding campaign. Prior to recording sessions, both Marsh and Pyne returned to the band and, with their original lineup intact they completed work on 2014s None the Wiser, released by Cooking Vinyl. For their next project, 2016s Big Life, the Rifles opted for a grand statement, working with producer Charles Rees (Paul Weller) on a lengthy double album. Returning again to the acoustic format, they set up shop at Londons legendary Abbey Road to record 2017s The Rifles Unplugged Album. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi

Empusa / Tormenta / Intercity / Broken Piano

Heel Turn Promotions Presents EMPUSA + support Sheffield/Chesterfield quintet Empusa recently released their fantastic debut EP Pathogen, and were chuffed to be able to put on their first steel city headline show in support of it! Combining elements of melodeath, contemporary heavy metal and metalcore, Empusa unleash a furious attack backed by power, heaviness and melody. Main support for the show comes from the brilliant Tormenta! The Nu-Metalcore sextet are just coming off a major rebuilding and we cant wait to see them back on our stage once more! Lincolnshire electronic rockers Intercity will be joining us for this show. Weve heard some really nice buzz about these guys, so it seemed the perfect show to put them on. Opening the evening is the wonderfully talented Chesterfield-based Broken Piano. We had them on one of our showcase events in 2019 and they blew us away with their innovative take on synth rock, and can\'t wait for them to kick things off for us. Friendship (JP), Kurokuma, Groak, Blind Monarch

Japan\'s Friendship - a band born of overwhelming hardcore aggression and hate, all channelled through a wall of distorted Orange amps. Friendship return to the UK in March 2020, following their first visit in September 2018 which saw a week-long tour with fellow countrymen, Palm. This was the talk of the UK underground for weeks after, with the band whipping up a violent maelstrom at every show. Fans travelled across the country to witness this mysterious entity perform, with their reputation spreading far and wide by word of mouth alone. Since then Friendship have released Undercurrent through Southern Lord, an even more muscular and visceral listen than their legendary Hatred LP in 2017. CVLT Nation said: "Undercurrent is an onslaught of sludged-out hardcore that has caught the attention of every major US and EU band touring Japan. There are no trends in these riffs, just pure fucking insanity." One YouTube commenter said: "Saw these guys play in London some time last year and it was actually terrifying." https://friendshipsl.bandcamp.com/album/undercurrent Support comes in the form of Kurokuma, a kaleidoscopic yet pulverising sludge trio from Sheffield who will provide the slow to Friendship\'s fast. https://kurokumauk.bandcamp.com/ With a worthy Orange backline in tow, this tour, which includes a headline slot at Dreadfest in Leeds, is guaranteed to shake the foundations of the UK underground once again in March. Do not miss this. Support on the Sheffield date from Groak and Blind Monarch. It doesn\'t get much better. The Lughole (exact location TBA) 8 adv / 10 OTD DIY / DBAD

Jeffrey Martin & Anna Tivel // The Leadmill, Sheffield

Portland, Oregon singer-songwriters Jeffrey Martin and Anna Tivel will be performing on March 23rd at Cafe Totem. Earlier this year, Tivel released her critically acclaimed album The Question on Fluff & Gravy Records. Rolling Stone, NPR, and Billboard all praised its songwriting and production. It was listed at #1 on Paste Magazines Ten Essential Folk (and Folk-Adjacent) Albums of 2019 and NPR called it one of the most ambitious folk records of the year. Tivel was also recently recognized with the ASCAP Foundations Sammy Cahn Award and the No Depression Singer Songwriter of The Year Award. Touring on the strength of his most recent release One Go Around (Fluff & Gravy Records), Jeffrey Martin has built a loyal and enthusiastic fan base throughout the US and Europe. With rich lyrics that often present poetry as dark prose, Martins songs have drawn comparisons to literary giants William S. Burroughs and Cormac McCarthy. Martin and Tivels European tour includes stops in Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, U.K. and Ireland. Their full schedules and ticket information can be found at www.annativel.com or www.jeffreymartinmusic.com.

RAE (Formerly Ormstons) | Sheffield

Circle Sounds Presents: RAE: RAE was announced to the world in January 2020. A time for a clean slate and a new journey. Jess, Will, Bob and Jamie are no strangers to being in a band together, previously known as rmstons, they have grown together as friends and musicians and are ready to take the next leap possible for them within the music industry. Their music takes a spin on indie/pop and indie/rock the best of both worlds. Lyrically, they touch upon all the issues we face as we grow up, love and heartbreak (which we will go through over and over again in our lives), current events within the world, mental health. The band aspire to be as raw and real as they can be in both person and in their music. They have a mixture of influences musically between them all from bands such as ABBA, Foo Fighters, Two Door Cinema Club and Royal Blood. + Special Guests TBA

Dopelord (PL) / Beggar / Shrykull | Record Junkee, Sheffield.

Holy Spider Promotions presents DOPELORD NORTHERN ENGLAND EXCLUSIVE Dopelord (PL) "If music could manifest itself in nature, Polish stoner doom quartet Dopelord would be a murky, black fog. Children Of The Haze, the bands aptly named third album, envelopes you like a cloud of smog that swarms your senses and leaves you lost and helpless at the side of the road. Dense slabs of syrupy guitar and bass fuzz purr underneath clean (with some exceptions), retro vocals. Children of the Haze is defined by loose grooves, ghoulish riffing and a very vintage sense of wickedness. Dopelord prove that, unlike many other stoner metal bands, they are not content to just create the same song several times over and call it an album." LISTEN: https://dopelord.bandcamp.com/ BEGGAR Holy Spider favourites, blending the viciousness of old school death metal with stoner grooves. One of the best bands the UK has to offer right now. We are very glad to host them again after their fantastic appearance at Doomlines V! LISTEN: https://thusspokethebeggar.bandcamp.com/track/nine-atmospheres Shrykull Another Holy Spider favourites and heroes of the music scene in Nottingham. We\'ve had them over for numerous gigs and our love for them is undying. Beats and shrieks from hell. Raucous death/black/doom/sludge/grind. Get involved. Bethany Black - Unwinnable

The Leadmill are very proud to host UK\'s biggest Trans comedian LIVE on UK\'s Trans Visibility Day. Bethany Black is back. And this time it\'s personal. Okay, it\'s always personal, she\'s always banging on about herself (\'self indulgent\' (List)). In 2018 Bethany was diagnosed with autism and agoraphobia. This is a show about accepting the outcome of what she always knew deep down. \'Bethany Black should prepare for world domination\' (Bruce Dessau). \'Hilariously funny\' (Russell T Davies). Best Debut Leicester Comedy Festival nominee 2008. \'I went for an hour laughing at every other word\' ***** The LGBT Arts Review Unwinnables greatest strength is that it feels effortlessly coherent Black has the skill to readily incorporate up-to-date material into her act, and one gets the impression she would feel compelled to drop any routine which no longer resonated with her **** Fest Mag \'Bethany may have called her show Unwinnable but, if youre looking for a consistent laughter count this Fringe, youre onto a winner with Bethany.\' **** Funny Women "Her journey to Channel Four, Doctor Who and steadily rising star status makes for hilarious if sometimes incredulous listening." Three Weeks "Honest, to the point, and very very funny." Arts Award Voice

Cassels | Record Junkee, Sheffield

Circle Sounds Presents: Cassels: Big Scary Monsters Finding humour in the seemingly inescapable collapse of the human race. It might not be the most conventional approach to a record, but Cassels have already proved themselves to be anything but traditionalists. Made up of brothers Jim and Loz Beck, the duo spent their youth rallying against the calm, countryside boredom of growing up in a small village in Oxfordshire developing a sound characterised by a maelstrom of erratic instrumentation and punk-inflected vocals. Over the course of two LPs, a compilation of early EPs and singles, Cassels have operated outside of strict genre distinctions, both accumulating a loyal fanbase and winning plaudits along the way. Drawing on influences from the agitated post-punk of Shellac to the rasping indie of Modest Mouse, it isnt surprising that pigeonholing the duo is no easy task. Since their 2015 debut EP, Hating Is Easy, theyve continued to evolve into an ever more indefinable outfit, all the while tackling weighty subjects ranging from social anxieties to estranged politics. The combination is an exciting, at times slightly intimidating, sound. Their last album The Perfect Ending, released in September by Big Scary Monsters, is in many ways the album youd expect Cassels to have made, packed as it is with left-field progressions and an impassioned take on contemporary issues, approached from a somewhat unique perspective. Music for misanthropes and malcontents. a cathartic, adrenal shock to the system - NME Brutally poignant, entirely unembellished and painfully honest Cassels deliver exceptional DIY punk with something real about them - Kerrang Plus special guests tba.

The Hara // The Leadmill, Sheffield - Matinee

THE HARA channel high-gain rock influences & performance from classic bands like Queen, AC/DC & Guns N Roses yet amped up their sound is a modern rock/pop alternative twist influenced by dirty riffs, pounding drums & soaring vocals of bands such as Panic! At The Disco, Arctic Monkeys and Royal Blood. THE HARA are Josh Taylor (lead vocal), Zack Breen (lead guitar) and Jack Kennedy (drums). Taylor found Breen and Kennedy online after advertising for band members looking to join a band. Although comprising only three members THE HARA have crafted their sound to emulate thirty instruments on stage with a live performance to match. Their first EP No Regrets gained #2 in the Alternative iTunes Charts on release, this was shortly followed with Unconscious Minds Innocently Blind, their second EP which stormed the UK#1 spot in the iTunes Bestsellers Chart for three days running prior to release on 22nd March 2019. It reached #5 in the All Genre Album Charts and would have hit #1 in the Alternative iTunes Charts but instead was mistakenly released in the Pop Charts reaching #2. Recently completing Unconscious Minds Innocently Blind tour selling out 5 of their biggest shows yet in Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Belfast & Sheffield with London, Birmingham & Dublin also breaking previous records they are now embarking on their #TrampBrainTour [September 19] and releasing new music for EP3

Lynne Hanson & The Good Intentions (Canada)

Album Release Tour JUST WORDS http://www.lynnehanson.com Too tough for folk and too blues influenced for country, Lynne Hanson\'s brand of "porch music with a little red dirt" can turn on a dime from a sunshine, blue sky ballad to a full-on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next. Lynne is known for her high-energy, roots guitar driven live performances, whether solo or with her band The Good Intentions. A closet standup comedian, Lynne often leaves the audience howling with laughter with her between-song-banter. Lynne has toured the US, Europe and the UK, showcased in Austin, TX and Memphis, TN, toured in support of Grammy nominated artist Gretchen Peters and Steve Forbert, and opened for Grammy-award winning guitar legend Albert Lee. She received a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination in 2009 and won the prestigious Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award in 2010. She is also one half of The LYNNeS. Their release Heartbreak Song For The Radio was nominated for 5 Canadian Folk Music Awards, winning English Songwriter and Ensemble of the Year.

Ferocious Dog // The Leadmill, Sheffield

Folk punk legends Ferocious Dog make their Leadmill debut next April! Tickets are on sale now! Theyve been hailed as a representation of our gut feeling, savage and merciless and at the same time, called folk in the grand tradition of it being the peoples sound. Ferocious Dog, however are all those things. More than a band, they are a family. To listen to the Ferocious Dog as it snarls and growls at the world is to show responsibility said a Louder Than War review of their brilliant, recently released and Fake News And Propaganda album, but this is an outfit that shows compassion too. And that, in a world where the lines of truth are blurred by the rich, powerful and corrupt, is priceless. Ferocious dog are a very socially conscious band and their music and lyrics are designed not only to make you smile and sing along but also to make you feel something. Folk-Metal.NL. A band that does drives for foodbanks not for headlines, but because it was the right thing to do a band that welcomes Hunt Sabs and conservationists Sea Shepherd to their shows, but a band where none of that really matters. No, here the feeling is important. Ferocious Dog is the group where fans are tattooed in the shop belonging to the lead singer, Ken Bonsall, where the violinist and band leader, Dan Booth prints the posters, and Les Carter (ex-Carter USM) plays the lead guitar. They can wow a punk festival one minute, a folk festival the next and fit right in anywhere. With Bonsall and Booth and Carter combining and John Leonard playing just about everything with strings, while the rhythm section of Alex Smith and John Alexander bring the power and energy, you have a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Shangralas // The Leadmill

Shangralas (formed 2018) are a Yorkshire band made up of members Danny Way (lead vocalist and guitar), Max Asquith (lead guitarist), Brad Cartwright (Bass) and Jordan Watkin (Drums). Forming just outside the city of Sheffield in a small village called Bolton Upon Dearne, these lads are well known with fans for their debut single Going Nowhere and their latest release 17. Described as one of the best upcoming bands Ive seen, Shangralas made their original debut on May 18th 2019 supporting, not only fellow band but friends, The Rosadocs at Sheffield o2 academy. Since then fans have followed these lads about, supporting them from one sold out show to another. After their latest release 17 took its place on various streaming platforms, in only 2 months this hit reaped in 10K streams on spotify alone (despite having no radio plugger). With the new year bringing in new lyrics, new riffs and plenty new solos these lads are eager to bring their latest offering to the table. New songs which were recorded in Magic Garden Studios, both recorded and produced by Gavin Monighan and Joe Murray. Their fans have think theyve heard the best tunes, but what new Shangralas material in 2020 has in store for them will bring more pits, dances and sing along to every show. As one fan said in an interview at their headline gig at Cafe Totem (Sheffield), these lads will be headlining festivals in 10 years, and their new releases are lined up and ready to prove their geared up to be heard on main stages for years to come.

Everly Pregnant Brothers // The Leadmilll, Sheffield

As part of The Leadmills 40th Anniversary celebrations, Sheffields very own Everly Pregnant Brothers will play a very special Judas show, theyll be going all-electric, no ukes for one night only! The Everly Pregnant Brothers were formed after a drunken dare by Pete Mckee and Richard Bailey in 2009. The success of the dare prompted the pair to draught in a bunch of disparate chaps who had three things in common, the love of beer, ukuleles and having a laugh. Frontman Shaun Doane sets the tone and drives proceedings forward with a huge vocal performance and some wicked renditions of music classics. A national treasure in their native Sheffield, the Brothers playful tampering of classic songs has won them friends and fans far and wide.

Caper Clowns, Searching For Sylvia + 2 More

Caper Clowns is an indie-rock-pop band from Odense, Denmark. Caper Clowns have released two albums The Buca Bus (2016) and A Salty Taste To The Lake (2018). Denmark`s nationale radio DR, as well as a lot of web-radio stations around the world are playing Caper Clowns music. Caper Clowns are packing more than 400 gigs in their luggage, including support gigs for bands like Level 42 (UK, and The Crookes (UK). Caper Clowns also featured the IPO-festival in Liverpool on The Cavern Club for the last 3 years. They were touring England May 2019 and they are going again in 2020. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/CaperClowns/videos A Salty Taste To The Lake: https://song.link/album/dk/i/1436968580 The Buca Bus: https://song.link/album/dk/i/1151824609 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CaperClowns Excerpt from gig review by Morten Gottschalck GAFFA (2017): http://gaffa.dk/artikel/119426/pa-ryggen-af-odense-en-global-succes-gjort-lokal/ ... Caper Clowns... ... Outstanding performance... ... It is likely that these musicians will become an international succes, without us danes even realising it... ...The quintet peaks with the song Sleeping On The Edge Of The Rainbow, where we dream our way into their musical universe. They rotate the lead vocal, and you get the clear impression, that this is a band with many years of live concerts. It is in the very centre of bullseye, with lots of cheering. Excerpt from album review`s, A Salty Taste To The Lake: Review, Shindig! # 85 (UK): https://pocketmags.com/eu/shindig-magazine 5 stars. .the album can proudly stand with the best of 2018. The band boats four singers, as well as a sound which can be characterized as a cross between The merrymakers and Crowded House, with a bit of Sir Paul thrown in....not a single duff track here. Review, I Dont Hear A Single (UK): https://hearasingle.blogspot.com/2018/09/caper-clowns-salty-taste-to-lake.html ...From the minute that I heard The Way I Dream earlier this year, I knew the album was going to be a stormer, I\'m still singing the song six months on, it\'s a real earworm. A Salty Taste To The Lake is an upbeat melodic joy.......There is real depth in these 11 Songs. Caper Clowns may very well be my favourite band of the last couple of years. The album is a must have.... Review , Nordic Music Review (UK): https://www.nordicmusicreview.com/single-post/2018/11/21/Caper-Clowns---A-Salty-Taste-To-The-Lake-Album?fbclid=IwAR3ETAcQDPPPJvvWhR2fhzkm2vTbblyzSQdg7OaQy66rWpiFEkRvZrVLjSo ....There are so many highlights, as this is an album which has strength in depth rather than being reliant on a couple of hit singles, but I\'ll mention just a few....\'The Way I Dream\', which has a lovely \'Jellyfish\' feel, whilst the marginally heavier \'Lifeline\' has a slightly darker opening before releasing into another big \'Caper Clown\' chorus - and that\'s pretty much what you\'re going to get from this band, each song is packed full of infectious melodies. \'Second to None\' bounces along at a quite ridiculous pace, whilst \'Sacre Bleu\' (no, not \'suck our blood\' as I first thought) is an obvious choice for a single, outrageously upbeat and cheery. However the quite lovely \'Paper Trail\' is the highlight for me, maybe it reminds me of favourite bands such as \'Jackdaw 4\' (and again \'Jellyfish\'), but it has rich, clever instrumentation and more tunes in one song than I should rightfully expect in a complete album......A Salty Taste to the Lake\' is simply delicious indie power pop, and yes it might feel like a guilty pleasure at times, but who cares, because this is a band who write the most natural sounding pop tunes, and everybody needs a dose of \'Caper Clowns\' to keep the darkness at bay.... Searching For Sylvia started life in Rotherham around 2005 and evolved from its folk/country/indie roots to create a body of work which can be best described as an eclectic mix of guitar-driven, rock with true pop sensibilities. The bands line up is: Pete Sheldon Guitars, Vocals Andy Hartley Bass, Vocals Ian Higginbottom Guitars, Vocals Chris Cooper Percussio Keith Lund Drums, Percussion Music: https://open.spotify.com/album/2GMBUlZHgqVypKVASzS8hl?si=jSkRNkJSQWqOP-h9NMuaaw Live video, The Cavern Club, Liverpool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRqqu7g19Mo In 2018 and 2019 Searching For Sylvia were invited to play the internationally renowned I.P.O. Festival at The Cavern Club in Liverpool. Here`s what reviewer and organiser David Bash had to say in 2019: We`re very pleased to have Searching For Sylvia back with us this year. A band who perform at the more rocky end of the powerpop spectrum. I know you are going to enjoy them! Searching For Sylvia play a well observed mix of 70s, 80s and 90s pop/rock that echoes American acts such as Big Star, Gigolo Aunts and the Gin Blossoms, UK bands such as Teenage Fanclub and Be-bop Deluxe and takes in newer influences along the way. Melody is king here and whether its a dumb as you like rocker or a jangle pop ballad youre never more than a few seconds away from a tasty hook. Classic guitar music with power and subtlety married to thoughtful lyrics with no pretentions. This is the trademark. Youll hear influences across a wide spectrum of music and put together in a way that shows that this band are firstly music fans and not led by trend or burning desire to follow a blueprint. The songs become what they should be, honest and downright catchy which people of all ages and tastes seem to enjoy both live and in recorded form. Searching For Sylvia will admit theyre no spring chickens but the worldliness and maturity within means these songs could never be written by people who hadnt had the life experiences these guys have had. Remember, you can have depth in a pop song! https://www.facebook.com/sylviapopsongs/

Lloyd Griffith: Not Just A Pretty Face

Lloyd is back on the road for his third UK stand up tour. Its been a busy few years for Grimsbys favourite (for now, anyway) comedian/choirboy. Hes recently been supporting Jack Whitehall on tour, and you may have also seen him in on 8 out of 10 cats (Channel 4), Can You Beat The Bookies? (BBC), Soccer AM (Sky One), Flinch (Netflix), Live At The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), Songs of Praise (BBC2) ((lol)). Lloyd bounces off the audience and has everyone laughing along with him. This is an hour of uplifting stand-up thatll have you smiling for days. A warm, relatable and hilarious show The Sunday Post Disarmingly good Dominic Maxwell, The Times Lloyd Griffith has to be my favourite find from this show. Its not often you get a comic and a choirboy rolled into one, and hes seriously talented in both areas Leicester Mercury What is evident from the outset is that Griffith is both bursting with talent. He is a funny, charming, self-effacing comic who very obviously gains great joy from making people laugh. It is evident in the way he feeds off the audience. joe.co.uk

Back To The ROXY - The Greatest Hits

Roxy returns with its Greatest Hits in May 2020! One of Sheffields biggest nightclubs is set to return next year following the success of a recent reunion night and sell-out book. The legendary Roxy Nightclub is back on Saturday, May 9th, 2020, and is set to raise hundreds for Hallam FMs Cash For Kids charity. Happy clubbers packed into Arundel Gates O2 Academy earlier this year to witness the venue being turned back into its former Roxy nightclub guise. The sprawling venue reined supreme in Sheffield in the 1980s and 1990s and the re-creation of the club got a massive thumbs up from the revellers that packed the dancefloor. Former Roxy-goer James Norton said: It was a truly fantastic night they got it bang on. I loved the Roxy in its heyday in the late 1980s and this night took me straight back to my youth. The Roxy became famous nationally as one of the venues for the Hitman & Her TV series. Everyone from Kylie Minogue to the London Boys performed there. With a capacity in excess of 2,000, and one of the most jaw-dropping lightshows in the country, few venues were more high profile than the Roxy. Local author Neil Anderson used the event to gather photos and memories from former club-goers and recently launched a special Roxy edition of his best-selling Dirty Stop Outs Guide to 1980s Sheffield which has been a massive success. He said: I couldnt believe the interest in the venue and event people have very fond memories of the place.

Thunderfuck And The Deadly Romantics At Corporation

Special guests include The Big Dirty https://www.facebook.com/thebigdirtyrock/ Every so often, a release comes along that contains exactly what it says on the front cover. So, if you wanted any further clues as what to expect from this latest offering from the wonderfully named Mr Thunderfuck and his bunch of reprobate Deadly Romantics, then you need look no further than the title emblazoned in bright pink letters across said cover. Dirty Sleazy Rock n Roll is collection of 13 songs (theres an uncredited hidden bonus track) that do just that: dirtier than a Welsh railway track, sleazier than a back-alley preacher and delivering as much rock n roll as you can safely consume without exceeding the legal drinking limits. But, then again, TATDR are here to Drink This Party Dry, so such limits obviously mean nothing to them, and so should not mean anything to us either! As you would expect, there is nothing clever or fancy going on in the grooves delivered here. Its just good old-fashioned rock nfn roll played with honesty and a not inconsiderable sense of fun something sadly lacking in many of todays bands. Well, how can you take songs about anal sex seriously? Its actually hard to write a review of this album, as I can hardly see with the tears of both joy and laughter misting up my glasses. This is rambunctious, honest rock n roll born in the gutter and very definitely it has not lost its roots, as you can positively smell the sewage staining Thunderfucks cowboy boots. Its gloriously inglorious. Its inanely insane, and insanely inane. Its punk contains enough spunk to have a prostitute washing her mouth out for a month. You need to let this album spray its love all over you, as you pour yourself another Jagerbomb but, its not one for the road its just to set you up for diving straight back in and doing it all over again. This is rock n roll the way it is supposed to be played. So, climb on board mofos, cos that wild chick Annie is waiting to suck you off and then shit all over your preconceptions. Oh, and if youre offended by what you hear then, as Mr TF puts it in his usual eloquent style go fuck yourself! Like him, we dont give a damn were just here to get our holes!

The Undertones Sheffield The Leadmill

The Undertones + special guest Neville Staples Band The Undertones emerged from Derry, Northern Ireland in 1974, the result of five friends learning how to play basic rock and roll. Even by the standards of that decade, Derry was not the rock and roll capital of anywhere and with no live bands worth watching, they learned their trade by listening to mail order records, reading one of the few copies of NME that made it to Derry but most of all from listening to John Peels show on BBC Radio One. Practicing in their bedrooms eventually led to the band recording Teenage Kicks in 1978 on Terri Hooley\'s Good Vibrations label in Belfast. A copy was sent to the legendary DJ John Peel and he liked the track so much he played it twice in a row on his radio show! Eventually signing to Sire Records, Teenage Kicks was re-released, resulting in the band\'s first appearance on Top of the Pops. Over the next five years, John ONeill, his younger brother Damian, Feargal Sharkey, Billy Doherty and Michael Bradley crafted numerous punkpop gems and would go on to release 13 singles and 4 studio LPs, before disbanding in May 1983. The Undertones re-formed in 1999 with singer Paul McLoone, subsequently recorded 2 new LPs and have been touring regularly ever since. They played Glastonbury Festival in June 2005, recently marked their 40th anniversary, and have just completed a 46 date, 2019 world tour.

Fleetwood Bac // Birdwell Venue Barnsley

FLEETWOOD BAC are the worlds first and best Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band, endorsed by Mick Fleetwood himself, the only Mac tribute to authentically replicate the classic Rumours line-up. Over the last few years they have received rave reviews from The Stage newspaper, the U.K.s leading Fleetwood Mac fansites, the official Stevie Nicks website; and from ecstatic audiences wherever the band played, wowing audiences as far afield as Dubai, St. Tropez, the Cayman Islands and Monte Carlo, and twice selling out the world-famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall. Fleetwood Bac have also been rated by The Times newspaper as one of the U.K.s top 5 tributes, alongside The Bootleg Beatles, Bjorn Again and the Counterfeit Stones. Fans include original Mac bassist and biographer Bob Brunning, who joined the band several times on stage, and Peter Greens official biographer Martin Celmins. The sound, the look, the mystical atmosphere and on-stage chemistry are all portrayed with the passion and energy that got the seal of approval from Big Daddy Mick, and built up an excellent reputation amongst Mac fans through numerous tours, festival appearances, corporate events and TV and radio slots all over the U.K. and Europe. The Fleetwood Bac show focuses on the Rumours era of the band (still the 5th biggest-selling album of all time). It also features several songs from the Peter Green days, plus some of Stevies biggest solo hits, in either a theatrical 2-hour show, including costume-changes and an acoustic section, or a one-hour Greatest Hits Show, specially tailored for corporate events. Songs featured (all UK and US hit singles) include: Dreams, Dont Stop, Go Your Own Way, You Make Loving Fun, Tusk, Gypsy, Everywhere, Oh Well, Rhiannon, Little Lies, Black Magic Woman, Seven Wonders, Say You Love Me, Big Love, Oh Diane, Stop Draggin My Heart Around, Albatross, Sara, Man Of The World, Hold Me, Green Manalishi, Need Your Love So Bad, The Chain etc What people have said about Fleetwood Bac: Keep up the good work! Much luck. Mick Fleetwood Loved the show, really enjoyed playing with you. Bob Brunning, original Fleetwood Mac bass player, and author of Fleetwood Mac: Rumours And Lies Stevie looks fabulous Lindseys act is well sussed Mick is entertaining to watch throughout Christine is unbelievably accurate first-rate. Martin Celmins, Peter Greens official biographer Musical archaeologists reconstruct their favourite rock mammoth with painstaking accuracy. The Times Spot on. Gerry Cinnamon

Gerry Cinnamon makes his debut at the FlyDSA Arena Sheffield on Tuesday 2nd June 2020, his music crosses generations in a way that only a handful of wordsmiths can - relatable, relevant and a true story teller. Unsigned and unmatched in his ability to operate outside of the mainstream Gerry has become a cult hero and force to be reckoned with. His upcoming UK and Ireland headline tour, which will see the singer songwriter perform his first ever show at Sheffields Fly DSA Arena on Tuesday 2nd June 2020, is set to continue his legacy of selling out shows in minutes. Tickets, priced 40.40 & 26.35 including fees, go on general sale at 9am on Friday 6th December and are available online at www.flydsaarena.co.uk or 0114 256 56 56. The inimitable live shows are infamous for their wild atmosphere and special sing along moments; with his crowd singing every word - to every song many before they are even released. Gerry Cinnamons hugely anticipated self-produced, self-released debut album Erratic Cinematic rocketed to the top of the iTunes album charts on release with little more than a social media post; holding off some of the biggest names the industry has to offer. His anthemic tracks, laced with social commentary have captured the imagination of audiences up and down the country. With every track being different, it keeps the listener on their toes. Using loop pedal harmonies and pounding kick drums, Gerry makes a habit of whipping the audience into a frenzy which sees them leaving on a high and wanting more. In an age of information overload, its clear Gerry Cinnamon cuts through the noise. No longer is the intermediary power with the label or the media. It is between the artist and the people. Gerry is perhaps the UKs or the Worlds best example of that. He is more than an artist but a phenomenon, paving the way for the next generation of DIY pioneers. The awards, the sold out shows and the reaction to his critically acclaimed debut album has not only propelled him to the next level but has affirmed his place as a writer as well as a live act. Cinnamon says: On his sell-out shows: It\'s been beyond wild. Scottish tour sold out in minutes. England and Ireland dates done the same. We\'ve got no marketing machine behind us. It\'s all just from word of mouth. That means it\'s real though. That means the folk who come to the gigs are there \'cause they love their tunes. And it shows. From the minute the doors open the building starts shaking. See when the crowd is with you singing every word it\'s a mad feeling. Beautiful mayhem doesn\'t even get anywhere near it. On his debut album: It\'s been a long time coming! But every time I sat down to record, I ended up writing new stuff. Pretty buzzing about how it\'s been received. I\'m a writer first and a musician second so it\'s cool to be recognised for the writing and not just the live shows. It\'s just the tunes, no record label, no promo, just the tunes. That means it\'s real man." "I think the new material is the best I\'ve ever written and no-ones even heard it yet. Can\'t wait to get the next one out sharpish. Gerry Cinnamon performs at the FlyDSA Arena Sheffield on Tuesday 2nd June 2020. Specific show terms & conditions will apply on this show are: Tickets limited to 4 per person.
