The Festivals epic opening-night gala once again promises an extravaganza of stellar performers celebrating timeless songs and voices.
Guy Barker and the EFG London Jazz Festival Orchestra always create a superb setting for an array of great singers and some surprise guests, but this year has knocked the ball out of the park.
What we can tell you is that Corinne Bailey Rae agreed to take part in Jazz Voice after selling out her own Southbank Centre show, Ccile McLorin Salvant is coming in early to sing a couple of songs before doing her own show at the Barbican, stunning young talent Matthew Whitaker and eclectic, young vocal collective Urban Flames will bring in their fresh touch and Raul Midn, Judi Jackson and Jazz FMs Vocalist of the Year Cherise Adams-Burnett are all on board - so its already an unmissable line-up, hosted by Jumok Fashola Music

Corinne has always loved jazz - she received a Grammy for her work on Herbie Hancock's album The River
- and now that her own show in the Festival has packed out, she's delighted that Guy Barker has invited her to take part in Jazz Voice
Mentored by Snarky Puppys Michael League, Judi Jackson was introduced to the world of music through the Jefferson Centres Music Lab in her hometown of Roanoke, Virginia. It was here she met Wynton Marsalis, and opened for Mavis Staples, which sparked her development as a jazz vocalist and performer.
Matthew Whitaker (on piano)
The 18 year-old sensation, and 2019 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award winner, brings his magic on the keys. The LA Times said his performance inspired spontaneous dancing and a standing ovation. As a student of great piano masters, he has quickly identified the buttons that resonate with a crowd looking for a good time.
Midn dubbed an eclectic adventurist by People magazine has collaborated with such heroes as Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers. Guardian said a lovely voice, a beautifully controlled tenor that can express anything from tenderness to passion. He has had back-to-back Grammy Nominations in the Best Vocal Jazz Album category.
The 22-piece vocal collective was started two years ago by Urban Development, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to nurturing the musical talents of young people they perform original works, and have performed at the Royal Albert Hall and the Hackney Empire - expect raw energy, enthusiasm and excitement
A parade of wonderful jazz singers, backed by a luxuriantly big orchestra, singing two dozen or so of the greatest popular songs ever written. Its a sure-fire recipe for bliss. ( Telegraph)
