Red Sun Revival And Burning Gates Live In London
Burning Gates are back in the UK to promote their new album 'New Moon', their first since 2001! They will play the Hope and Anchor together with Red Sun Revival (both bands playing full sets) as part of a small number of gigs! DJ Cavey Nik (Dead & Buried) completes the bill and will be spinning his trademark tunes between and after the bands.
Red Sun Revival are an alternative/gothic rock band which was formed in London, England in 2011. The line-up consists of vocalist/guitarist Rob Leydon, bassist Panos Theodoropoulos, violinist and backing vocalist Christina Emery, and drummer Simon Rippin. The bands sound is defined by deep vocals, driving basslines, and intricate guitars which weave amongst haunting violin harmonies. The bands sound has echoes of orchestral film soundtracks whilst occasionally incorporating elements of folk and classical music.
Red Sun Revival have released two full length albums, Running from the Dawn (2012) and Identities (2015), in addition to a four-track EP, Embers (2014). All three releases were mixed and produced by Stephen Carey of The Eden House/NFD/Adoration/This Burning Effigy.
The three releases all met with critical acclaim with several songs receiving extensive radio play worldwide. Additionally, Red Sun Revival have released three official music videos for the tracks My Child, Mistakes, and The Awakening, produced by Gabriel Edvy of Blackswitch Labs. The band are currently preparing material toward a third full-length studio album.
Burning Gates formed in Turin, Italy, in 1994 and released their debut album, Risvegli in 1996, followed by Aurora Borealis in 1999 and Wounds in 2001, along with a 7 split-single with German band The House of Usher and many other tracks appearing on several compilations and samplers. They toured regularly all over Europe and performed at most of the main European festivals of the time. At the end of 2001, following a couple of line-up changes the band put all activities on hold and eventually officially split in 2002; that was the end of it, or so it seemed at the time but in 2015 after a few conversations held over the years between former members (who had all kept active in the alternative music scene and formed and/or been part of various other bands), Burning Gates decided to return to the scene for one last period of time, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first release independently released tape Nel Profondo - in their classic and longest-lasting line-up made up by Michele Piccolo (vocals and guitars), Andrea Cannella (guitars), Danny Tartaglia (bass) and Davide Bo (drums). One last fire intended to burn again from the Autumn of 2015 and which led to concerts in Spain, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg and the UK over the following year and culminated with what was supposed to be the last ever performance in the bands hometown of Turin in November 2016 best laid plans and all that, however; during the reunion tour the band found they pretty much still enjoyed working and touring together, and decided to try and write new material. Almost 2 years on, in September 2018, the result of their efforts saw the light, as new album New Moon was released on swiss label Swiss Dark Nights, and Burning Gates are now well and truly back as a band.
