Heavy Pettin' At The Underworld Camden

The Underworld Camden proudly presents: Heavy Pettin plus: TYTAN Doors - 6:00pm // Price - 20.00 Adv. Tickets - www.theunderworldcamden.co.uk About: Heavy Pettin - www.facebook.com/heavypettinofficial "Victims Of The Night" - https://youtu.be/ICHcdAPNbDw Heavy Pettin\' first stirred into action when vocalist Hamie, guitarists Gordon Bonnar and Punky Mendoza, drummer Gary Moat and bassist Brian Waugh first burst out of Glasgow in 1981. They were vibrant, priapic, anthemic and focused. As they showed on a three-track demo, and on the subsequent debut single for independent label Neat (\'Roll The Dice\'/\'Love Xs Love\'), they were more than mere Def Leppard slaves. In fact, the Pettin\' had an international sound that owed something to AC/DC, UFO, Thin Lizzy and Foreigner, but also had its own raging momentum. Not that the band found the road straightforward. But, thanks to a work ethic that took them around the country, plus a valuable session for Radio 1\'s prestigious \'Friday Rock Show\', the band eventually landed a crucial deal with the major label Polydor Records. Moreover, their 1983 debut album (\'Lettin\' Loose\') was co-produced by the creative Mack together with Queen guitarist Brian May. Now, that\'s pedigree. Amazingly, that album has survived more than 20 years of high-speed hi-tech developments intact. While other, more celebrated records have dated badly, \'Lettin\' Loose\' re-affirms the belief back then that the Pettin would follow Leppard to big time stature. What went wrong at the time has little to do with band, or lack of ambition/talent. In America, where they should have broken big long before Bon Jovi gave Love A Bad Name, they were held back by the label\'s insistence on an anaemic re-mix (as well as a title change to \'Heavy Pettin\', which caused more confusion than anything else). If the band\'s essential, vital British brio had been left as conceived in the first place, who knows what might have been achieved. Still, a slot on the bill for the 1983 Reading Festival, the day that Black Sabbath infamously headlined when fronted by Ian Gillan, did them no harm and touring with both Kiss and Ozzy helped the quintet\'s progress. Two years later, the Pettin return to the studio, this time with producer Mark Dearnley (who\'d worked with AC/DC and Krokus). The result? \'Rock Ain\'t Dead\', which surprised many with a slicker yet conversely tougher approach. The lads really had progressed, although ironically if things had gone to plan, this would have been produced by Lance Quinn, of Bon Jovi and Lita Ford fame. However, just hours before the band were due to fly to Philadelphia, to work with Quinn at his Warehouse Studios, the decision was taken by PolyGram (to whom both Heavy Pettin and Bon Jovi were signed in the US) that, instead, he should start work immediately on what was to be Jovi\'s second record, \'7800 Degrees Fahrenheit\'. Perhaps then, it should have been obvious that record company politics were to scupper Pettin in the crucial American market. Despite continuing to show up well in the UK, once again the US was to prove elusive - through no fault of the five musicians. In many respects, this was the point when the writing was scrawled over every available wall space. Regardless of their obvious determination and grassroots support in Britain, it seemed as if Pettin\'s realistic chance of significant international success had gone. A third album, \'The Big Bang\', was released by FM Revolver in 1989. Although it still proved this lot were way ahead of so many others who were selling truckloads of units and getting acclaim from the media; as the 1980s faded into memory, so too did Heavy Pettin. Driven by a desire, a passion and a capacity simply to invoke the magic and rapport the band enjoyed, they released Prodigal Songs in 2007. The album was well received by their loyal fans and the limited pressing sold out making it a highly sought-after collector\'s item. In 2017, original members Hamie, Punky, and Gordon joined by Jez Parry on bass and Michael Ivory on drums performed for the first time in 25 years at Scotland\'s WinterStorm. Reinvigorated, Heavy Pettin, now joined by ex-Gun guitarist Dave Aitken due to Punky hanging up his guitar and going in to retirement, did several shows in 2018 including a 6 date UK tour, with 3 sold out gigs in Nottingham, London and Edinburgh, as well as 2 sold out headline gigs in Milton Keynes and Glasgow. 2019 is going to be Heavy Pettin\'s year with the HRH AOR March 16, Headbangers Open Air in Germany in July 27th and Aug 25th Golden Age of Rock Festival in Belgium already booked and more dates to be announced. According to Hamie, fans should look for a new album as "...the demand and support for new HP material has been so overwhelming, we are excited to say we\'re now working on brand new HP material which will be released in 2019... and it\'s going great!" ZOG - Live On Stage!

WEDNESDAY 31 JULY - SUNDAY 25 AUGUST 2019 Large in size, and keen in nature, Zog is so eager to win a golden star at Madam Dragons school, where dragons learn all the things that dragons need to know. Zog tries so very hard, perhaps too hard, and he bumps, burns and roars his way through years one, two and three. Luckily, the plucky Princess Pearl patches him up ready to face his biggest challenge yet a duel with Gadabout the Great! Julia Donaldson and Axel Schefflers much-loved ZOG comes to life in Mike Shepherds (founder and Artistic Director of Kneehigh) magical adaptation with Johnny Flynns (award-winning actor and singer-songwriter with The Sussex Wit) sumptuous folk score featuring live musicians. Katie Sykes design lifts the book from the page and creates a real and fantastical world. From the team behind Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales and Tabby McTat, ZOG promises to be roaring fun for all ages. Lovingly interpreted with colour, flair and talent, Zog will have thousands of children laughing and falling in love with theatre. (Musical Theatre Review) Superbly fun, colourful and heart-warming. (My Theatre Mates) We loved it! Hilarious, magical and great for all the family. (Kiddo Adventures) A truly magical adaptation, with creative puppetry and a gorgeous folk score drenched in imaginative and enchanting little details that left my five and a half year old absolutely mesmerised throughout. (Motherhood the Real Deal) An ideal show for all the family; it bridges the gap between really young kids theatre and stuff for tweens and I cant think of any other show that does the same. (Modern Mummy) Duration: approx. 1 hour.

Unnati - Indigo Soul

Straight from the main stage of WOMAD and ahead of Autumn dates at the Barbican and London Jazz fest, Unnati will premier songs from her new album, Indigo Soul  at the esteemed jazz club- The Pheasantry, in Chelsea on Friday 23rd August.    Flowing from her Unnati’s songs and transcendent, evocative vocals cleverly fuse South Asian spiritual and classical Indian music with jazz, folk and pop creating an international crossover sound. The music is epic, empowering and as one concert-goer remarked "incredibly healing".   Unnati has enthralled audiences at The Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre, Cadogan Hall and at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club and Westminster Abbey where she sang at Sir Richard Attenborough's Memorial Service. She has also taken the stage at Mexico's Cervantino Festival, Boubou’s Music Festival in the Caribbean and The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai.    In addition, Unnati's sufi song, 'Teri Yaad Aati Hain' has been selected by DJ Ravin to feature on CD 1 of Buddha Bar's Ultimate Collection.   Accompanied by her jazz trio, the talented singer-songwriter-composer and multi-instrumentalist is guaranteed to delight an audience of both loyal fans and regulars to the jazz club.  Trained by her father, the late Indian classical vocalist Nitai Dasgupta, who himself learnt from Ustad Amir Khan.  In 2005, Unnati was one of six semi-finalists of the Glastonbury Unsigned Artists Jazz World heat.

Of Mice & Men At The Underworld Camden

MyTicket proudly presents: Of Mice & Men plus support. Doors - 7:00pm // Price - 25.00 Adv. Tickets - http://po.st/Vq2nT8 About: Of Mice & Men - www.facebook.com/ofmice "Unbreakable" - https://youtu.be/_3P26FaPxgk Changes dont have to actually change anything. Just ask Of Mice & Men. No matter what changed around them, the Southern California quartetAaron Pauley [vocals, bass], Valentino Tino Arteaga [drums], Phil Manansala [lead guitar], and Alan Ashby [rhythm guitar]clung to their identity while making the aptly titled Defy [Rise Records]. In fact, the groups fifth full-length album not only reasserts that identity, but also cements it stronger than ever before. Making this record was so much more about figuring out who we are and developing that, rather than trying to reinvent ourselves and come out with something new, affirms Aaron. We live in a culture where everything is digested seconds at a time. Instead of 15 minutes of fame, its 15 seconds of fame. Even though its become a one-serving singles and streaming industry, we make records that youre meant to digest over a long period. For the past five years that this lineup has been together, people have expected us to fail. We took that and let it be a motivating fire for the overall vision. Change wont define us. Were going to define ourselves. We didnt want to become a new band; we just wanted to be Of Mice & Men. Since 2010s self-titled debut, Of Mice & Men have confidently charged forward fueled by metallic energy, seismic melodies, head-busting grooves, and sweeping, stadium-size hooks. Following the breakout success of 2011s The Flood, the band reached household name status on Restoring Force in 2014. The record triumphantly bowed at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 and spawned signature hits, including Would You Still Be There, Feels Like Forever, and Bones Exposed, totaling over 100 million cumulative streams to date. Along the way, the boys would grace the covers of Metal Hammer, Alternative Press, Kerrang!, Revolver, and more in addition to earning acclaim from Rolling Stone and Billboard, among others. An unforgettable live presence, theyve ignited stages alongside titans such as Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, Five Finger Death Punch, Rammstein, Linkin Park, and Slipknot, to name a few. 2016s Cold World arrived in the Top 20 of the Top 200. With Defy, Of Mice & Men toured in tandem with the creative process, making much of the music for the album on the road. Between show-stopping sets at U.S. festivals including Rock on the Range, they unleashed a pair of punchy and powerful singlesUnbreakable and Back To Mewhich notched 7 million-plus Spotify streams and 5 million-plus YouTube/VEVO views in six months time. After a string of successful European fests highlighted by a return to Graspop Metal Meeting and Hellfest as well as their Download Festival debut, they returned to the West Coast in order to finish recording Defy with the help of GRAMMY Award-nominated producer Howard Benson [My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace, Skillet, The All-American Rejects]. We had just been in front of tens of thousands playing our music night after night, says Tino. That inspired us to write more with a live sound that could move the audience. We made the last few records after months of not being on the road, Aaron elaborates. It becomes really easy to look at the process in a myopic scope. You end up forgetting the people who consume the music. Going into the studio immediately after we got off the road, the crowd was in our mind since day one. We had discerned the elements that ignited them. A thrashed-up gallop of muscular riffs powers the single Warzone. Guttural growls suddenly slip into the mosh pit-ready chant, THIS IS A WARZONE! We were thinking of circle pits and crowd surfers, Tino explains. Weve always been a live-oriented band. This taps back into a place where some fans may feel like we left. Its a very dark track. Lyrically, its about the phases of a panic attack. A marriage of crushing polyrhythms and melodically-charged crooning, Forever YDGN brings things full circle as it completes a trilogy started by YDG and continued with Still YDGN. Appropriately, its lyrics nod to Those in Glass Houses from Of Mice & Men, When You Cant Sleep At Night from The Flood, You Make Me Sick from Restoring Force, and Away from Cold World. YDG has been in our ethos since Day One, continues Tino. "Its short for Ya Dig, which asks the question, \'Are you with it, or are you not?\' You have to be the proponent of positivity in your life. YDG means to believe in yourself. It was important for us to include Forever YDGN in this album." In addition to a surprising and soaring cover of Pink Floyds Money, the group pull back into raw vulnerability on the heartbreaking acoustic closer If We Were Ghosts. Thats probably the most meaningful song on the record, sighs Aaron. We were all together when we got the news that Chester Bennington had taken his life. We toured with Linkin Park, and his music affected my life. He was somebody I would text at one in the morning when I saw something funny or ask for advice about my voice or what to do when touring gets hard. We all broke down crying. It details missing somebody. If we were both ghosts, we could do so much together, but I have to wait until I get to the other side. I never did get to say goodbye. In the end, Defy is Of Mice & Men at their purest. Life is never going to stay consistent, Aaron leaves off. No matter what, you can express who you are through all that though. Change doesnt have to define you. We didnt let it. You can hear the message in the music, says Tino. Either ya YDG, or Y\'DON\'T."
