Strauss Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche
Mozart Piano Concerto No 27
Brahms Symphony No 3

Following acclaimed performances of Der Rosenkavalier on WNOs main stage in 2017 (He and his terrific orchestra dont miss a trick in a reading that is sumptuous and expansive as well as vivacious and witty), Music Director Tom Hanus returns to the music of Richard Strauss, in this playful tone-poem recounting the life and misadventures of a Germanic folk-hero in Till Eulenspiegels Merry Pranks.

We follow this with Mozarts Piano Concerto No 27, the composers final sublime and unique contribution to the form. We present this masterpiece in the hands of Paul Lewis CBE, internationally regarded as one of the leading musicians of his generation and amongst the foremost interpreters of Mozart and Beethovens piano works.

After the interval, Tom conducts Brahms Symphony No 3. Composed while on holiday retreat along the Rhine, his 3rd Symphony is perhaps his most enigmatic. The work is filled with the wonderful lyricism, meticulous structure and ever-shifting texture of colours and keys for which Brahms is known. But in this particular work we hear also an inescapable sense of tranquillity and calmness.

Strauss Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche
Mozart Concerto i'r Piano Rhif 27
Brahms Symffoni Rhif 3

Yn dilyn perfformiadau llwyddiannus o Der Rosenkavalier ar brif lwyfan WNO yn 2017 (He and his terrific orchestra dont miss a trick in a reading that is sumptuous and expansive as well as vivacious and witty), bydd y Cyfarwyddwr Cerdd, Tom Hanus yn dychwelyd at gerddoriaeth Richard Strauss, yn y gerdd symffonig chwareus yma gan adrodd hanes ac anturiaethau yr arwr gwerin Almaenig yn Till Eulenspiegels Merry Pranks.

Yna yn dilyn, perfformir Concerto ir Piano Rhif 27 Mozart, cyfraniad unigryw ac olaf y cyfansoddwr at y ffurf. Bydd y campwaith hwn yn nwylo Paul Lewis CBE, syn cael ei ystyried drwyr byd fel un o brif gerddorion ei genhedlaeth ac ymysg y dehonglwyr blaenaf o weithiau ir piano gan Mozart a Beethoven.

Ar l yr egwyl, bydd Tom yn arwain Symffoni Rhif 3 Brahms. Fei cyfansoddwyd tra oedd ar wyliau ger yr Afon Rhein, efallai mai hon yw ei symffoni fwyaf enigmatig. Maer gwaith yn delynegol iawn, maer strwythur yn fanwl, ac maer cyweirnodau ar naws yn newid, syn nodweddiadol o Brahms. Ond yn y gwaith arbennig hwn rydym hefyd yn clywed ymdeimlad o lonyddwch a heddwch. Fel y pwysleisiodd Edward Elgar yn ddiweddarach, maer pedwar symudiad yn gorffen yn dawel dim ond cyfansoddwr mor athrylithgar Brahms fyddai wedi gallu wneud iddo swnio mor naturiol.
