What Is Stoicism? A Guide To A Happier Life

What is Stoicism? How is it said to have helped those who use it in their day to day lives? Where did its unique ideas come from? Join award winning author & philosophy expert Jules Evans for a practical, thought provoking look into the positive world of Stoic Philosophy.

The Ancient Greek philosophy of Stoicism was ignored by academic philosophers for most of the 20th century. In the last few decades, however, it has been rediscovered and revived, and is now being embraced by people all over the world. It inspired Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and gives people brilliantly effective tools for changing their mind and emotions, and for developing resilience, integrity and flourishing.

You can learn some of the basic ideas and techniques of Stoicism and use them right away to improve your life. Jules has explained Stoicism to everyone from 9-year olds to lifers in prison. Having been helped by the philosophy himself when he had traumatic stress, he loves explaining it to others.

Jules is the author of Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations, which was published in 19 countries and was chosen as a Times book of the year by Matthew Syed. Adrian Edmondson says the book saved his life when he was struggling with grief and depression. Jules is a founder member of Modern Stoicism and organiser of Stoicon.
