IMS Prussia Cove: Sndor Vgh Memorial Concert
A special project in January 2019 will reunite a group of musicians who were all former students of legendary Hungarian violinist and IMS Prussia Coves co-founder Sndor Vgh. In 1987 and 1989 a small string orchestra conducted by Sndor Vgh recorded Beethovens Grosse Fuge Op.133 and his late string quartet Op.131. IMS Prussia Cove have brought together as many of the original performers as possible for this memorial concert 30 years later, which will tour through Cornwall, Bristol and London.
IMS Prussia Cove is a charitable organisation dedicated to music-making at the highest level, fostering new generations of talented musicians from across the world, supporting musical idealism and enabling international collaboration. Founded in 1972 by the great violinist Sndor Vgh, and with Steven Isserlis as Artistic Director since 1996, IMS Prussia Cove has become one of classical musics most respected institutions. The biannual seminars bring musicians of all nationalities together to study and perform. Many of the worlds greatest performers and composers consider the IMS Prussia Cove seminars a major influence on their musical development.
