Karl Blau (at The Station)

Revered on both sides of the pond, shapeshifting alt-country musician Karl Blau returns to Bristol. In the two decades or so of his active career, he has released dozens of records characterised by a healthy sense of curiosity and an unrelenting DIY attitude. His latest release, the critically acclaimed Introducing Karl Blau (2016) that shimmers with an enchanting beauty (The 405), is a collection of reworked classic country and soul tunes which turned out to be the ideal accommodation for Blaus broad baritone vocals and blues guitar chops.

Support from Sumie, whose combination of voice and an acoustic guitar is the most hypnotic and disarmingly simple spell. Her 2013 self-titled debut album was recorded and produced in Berlin by German pianist Nils Frahm and by producer (and fellow pianist) Dustin OHalloran. Lost in Light is her 2017 release, a subtly cinematic second album.

This is a Colston Hall On The Road show at The Station Bristol.
