About this Event
To mark the 40th anniversary of the mod revival, The Touch and Teenbeats are putting on a special one night only show during the Brighton Mod Weekender. The show will also feature DJ by Glory Boy Mod radio show and Shake it Easy throughout the night.
The Touch were active on the mod revival scene from 1979-1981, and recorded one LP that was anonymously released by their record company titled The Mods Lost Touch but without song titles or any information about the band. This caused long running confusion as to the bands identity which was not resolved till enthusiasts tracked down band members in 2018, 37 years after the album appeared. It featured original tracks such as, "King & Country", "In My Room", "Makin' Hey", and a cover of Bob Dylan's "If You Gotta Go".
They played their first re-union gig in London in August 2018, which coincided with an official re-release of the album on Detour Records. In Summer 2019 they will release their 2nd album which will consist of previously unrecorded songs from 1979 with a few newer ones.
As the original band members now live between the US and UK, this is likely to be one of their only shows in 2019.
Teenbeats formed in November 1978 and were among the first wave of bands that would become the 79 mod revival.
Fronted by the charismatic Huggy they were described at the time by Shane MacGowan as the best live band playing in London at the moment and by Adrian Thrills like having the Undertones playing in your living room
Catch the Teenbeats on this rare live outing with The Touch, in a line up that has not been seen since 1979 at the legendary Marquee Club.
