Hattie Briggs / Danielle Cawdell / Silas Burke (Cuban Embassy)
Birmingham Promoters presents:
HATTIE BRIGGS + DANIELLE CAWDELL + SILAS BURKE
Hattie Briggs is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in London. An independent artist and regular busker at Network Rail stations, she was fortunate enough to be discovered by platinum-selling singer, Alfie Boe, who was stopped in his tracks by her pure vocal while she was busking at Paddington Station in October 2018. She was personally invited by him to open all 21 shows on his recent UK tour, the finale of which was at the Royal Albert Hall on April 17th 2019, after which she and her band received a standing ovation.I can honestly say it was the first time I had seen an audience stand and applaud a support act.
Since making the decision to drop out of a Russian degree in her second year at Oxford University, Hattie has released several EPs, two critically acclaimed albums, played live and been interviewed on national television (BBC Breakfast), had airplay on BBC Radios 1, 2, and 6 Music, and embarked on tours around the UK, the Netherlands and the U.S.. Festival appearances include The Great Escape Brighton, Secret Garden Party and a showcase in the Club Tent at Cambridge Folk Festival. Named the first ever winner of Fender Undiscovered Artist of the Year in 2017, Hattie won the prize of supporting Lucy Rose at the prestigious O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. Other artists that she has opened for include chart topping duo, Ward Thomas, at the O2 Londons Brooklyn Bowl, Lauren Aquilina, Stornoway, John Smith and Seth Lakeman.
Influenced by Joni Mitchell, Foy Vance, Goldfrapp and Jeff Buckley, Hattie writes and sings straight from the heart, bringing together pop, folk and electronic influences, which she delivers with honesty and intent.
Danielle Cawdell is a pianist and singer-songwriter based in Birmingham, UK. Her music is uncomfortably beautiful; piano ballads peppered with riot girl guitar noise all led by her delicate voice, telling hard truths. She echoes both the classic writing of Joni Mitchell and the contemporary emotionally efcient arrangements of Perfume Genius.
Born and raised in Sheffield, UK, Silas Burke is an English singer-songwriter with a twist. Through time spent in Canada and the US, Silas developed a real taste for Americana and the indie music which North America is known for. Influenced by artists such as Bon Iver and Gavin DeGraw, Silas began to stamp his mark on the Vancouver music scene through the underground of the East Side of Downtown. Now back in the UK, Silas has ambitions to bring his style home and continue to grow as an artist.
