The Real Thing Live

The Real Thing are appearing 'Live in Concert' with full band play Bristol Friday 25 August. The Real Thing are a British soul group formed in the 1970s. "You to me", one of the biggest dance hits of all time, "You to me are everything/The sweetest song that I could sing/Oh Baby, Oh Baby....  Now you've got the best of me/Come on and take the rest of me" The Real Thing were a phenomenon: one of the very few black British soul bands to achieve world renown - "You To Me" was an instant number onw. Featuring the group's three original vocalists, Eddie Amoo, Chris Amoo and Dave smith along with their five-piece band, the Liverpool-based trio were the UKs best-selling black group of the late 70s and one of the top ten best-selling bands of 1986. The Real Thing had three million selling hit singles in the 70s, "You to Me Are Everything", Can't Get By Without You" and "Feel The Force", plus other top ten successes, such as "You'll Never Know What You're Missing" and Whenever You Want Love".  In addition to a string of British hits, the band charted internationally with their song "You To Me Are Everything", reaching No.1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1976.  Other hits included "Children of the Ghetto" and Raining Through My Sunshine". To quote from the Guinness Book of Hit Records "they were the UKs best selling black group of the late 1970s and only fellow Liverpudlians, The Beatles and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, have had more singles in the all time top 100".  Still going strong in the 21st Century, The Real Thing have definitely earned their reputation as the UKs No.1 Soul Band.  Eight on stage, performance includes all their top ten hits, plus a medley of classic covers from Kool & The Gang "Ladies Night" and "Celebration", "Good Times" by Chic and from McFadden & Whitehead "Ain't No Stopping us Now". First Release Tickets are £18 and include free entry to after party with Soultrain DJs. *** Third date added: Saturday 2nd September*** Tickets: http://bit.ly/lauryn_third One of the greatest mysteries on modern music, Lauryn Hill released the straight-to-classic The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill back in 1998, before disappearing without a trace. The body of work she left, along with that of the Fugees, is a melange of neo-soul, hip-hop and r\'n\'b that has left a distinctive mark on virtually all popular music up to the present day. Her influence has audibly touched everyone from Kehlani to Kendrick Lamar.
