Bird On The Wire Presents: NADIA REID | Bush Hall

THURSDAY 24 AUGUST Nadia Reid http://www.birdonthewire.net/events/nadiareid-bushhall Self-discovery doesnt come easy. It usually requires a traumatic rite of passage gifting a new perspective to truly understand yourself. 18 months and 10,000kms travelled since her debut LP Listen To Formation Look For The Signs, its safe to say with her second album Preservation, Nadia Reid now knows herself extremely well. Preservation is about the point I started to love myself again. It is about strength, observation and sobriety Nadia says. As such Preservation is an ode to self-reflection and self-betterment the sound of Nadia showing her true colours, taking back power, and learning more about herself. Nadia admits, its about being OK with who I am in the world, and who I want to be. Learning to live with the fact Im a person who operates differently to others. Nadias deftly penetrating observations on life has seen the Guardian call her, a remarkable talented, assured, clever and confident singer-songwriter [with] a devastating youthful wisdom that gives her songs a feeling of lasting profundity. And, on Preservation it appears her own growing realization, and faith in music will take her to new, heady heights I remember recording the tracks, it was about 11 at night, and I felt almost transcendental, as if I was out of my body, singing these words to myself. Thats what these songs are; a confession to my future and past self. After a series of stunning sold out shows, Nadia Reid heads to the very fitting Bush Hall this summer. http://nadiareid.com/ Doors 7:30pm Tickets 11.50 +bf adv. available from http://birdonthewire.seetickets.com/go/nadiareidbushhall Bush Hall 310 Uxbridge Road, London, W12 7LJ https://www.bushhallmusic.co.uk/

Jens Lekman

Please note this is a 14+ show (under 16\'s must be accompanied by an Adult) Jens Lekman, born and reared in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a songwriter, adventurer and retired bingo hall employee. Traveling our globe as a wide-open receptor of all it has to offer, Lekman repurposes for his own oeuvre the worlds great, lost pop hooks of past and present. He breathes into them his droll senses of humor, romance and melody and gives them newfound buoyancy. Since his 2004 trifecta of EPs (Maples Leaves, Rocky Dennis in Heaven, You Are the Light) and right on through his acclaimed 2007 full-length, Night Falls Over Kortedala and 2012s touchingly personal I Know What Love Isnt, Lekman has made hopeless romantics of us all. In a musical language that has roots in the work of Arthur Russell, The Magnetic Fields, Calvin Johnson and Modern Lovers, Lekmans songs serve as a reminder to look closer at the world around us, to appreciate the beauty when its both in and out of context; at its most heartbreaking, its most loving, and its most absurd. Jens drops by KOKO on 29 August touring his brand new album Life Will See You Now. Please note, you may be required to have your ID scanned at the front door.

Black Balloons Presents: Shaefri

Shaefri: London singer Shaefri is obsessed with anything otherworldly... that cuts to the heart of human nature (or the lack of it). - DIY Combines an intensity of sound with a tenderness of touch... a crystalline piece of synth pop - Clash London-based electronic-pop artist Shaefri plays her first London show since launching her brand new EP Cracks in 2017. Shaefris sound is a unique combination of influences derived from her mixed Irish-Egyptian heritage as well as experiences in the concrete jungle of London. Following on from her EP release, which explores the duality of light in darkness, Shaefri has seen an influx of support from DIY, Clash, Radio X, Amazing Radio and Disco Naivete to name a few, whilst her unique brand of haunting vocals and minimalistic beats have seen her perform at venues across London such as Notting Hill Arts Club, The Social and Bush Hall. www.shaefri.com www.facebook.com/shaefri www.youtube.com/shaefri www.soundcloud.com/shaefri Twitter & Instagram: Shaefri FREE ENTRY

Courtney Marie Andrews

Sun 3 Sep 2017 11.82 incl. booking fee The Lantern - 20:00 Rising Indie-Country-Americana singer-songwriter is fast becoming one of the most talked about artists in recent years in the UK after critically acclaimed album Honest Life. Andrews melds dovetailing, Joni Mitchell-like melodies with pin-sharp lyrics that recall the pre-didactic Laura Marling, over a country sound bed of keening pedal steel and cascading piano. It makes for a stunning combination, says The Sunday Times. Ages 16+ This is a standing event

Courtney Marie Andrews At Bush Hall | 4 September

After selling out her March run of show, we are incredibly excited to announce a special show at Bush Hall this September. At just 16 years old, Courtney Marie Andrews left home in Arizona for her first tour. She traveled up and down the West Coast, busking and playing any bars or cafs that would have her. Soon after, she took a Greyhound bus four nights straight from Phoenix to New York to do the same on the East Coast. For a decade or so since, Courtneys been a session and backup singer and guitarist for nearly 40 artists, from Jimmy Eat World to Damien Jurado. She never stopped writing her own material, though. Picking up admirers like Jurado and Ryan Adams along the way, she has quietly earned a reputation as a songwriters songwriter.
