The Hippopotamus + Satellite Q&A With Stephen Fry

An embittered poet is asked to investigate possible miracles at the country house home of an old friend in this British comedy drama adapted from the seminal novel by Stephen Fry. When disgraced poet Ted Wallace (Roger Allam) is summoned to his friends Lord and Lady Logan\'s country manor, Swafford Hall, he does so to investigate a series of unexplained miracle healings - his natural cynicism making him the ideal candidate to get to the bottom of whats going on, as well as some good whisky bottles. Ted soon tracks down the perpetrator of the phenomena, his fifteen year old godson David (Tommy Knight), whose parents believe has healing hands. But with the Logan\'s set on sharing their sons gift with the world, unaware that David is using some rather unorthodox methods, Ted sets out to debunk the miracles and save the young man from a lifetime of embarrassment. A country manor mystery and a deliciously wicked comedy of manners, The Hippopotamus is rollicking fun which sees Allam relishing every syllable of wonderfully wry, witty and whisky-soaked dialogue. Followed by a live satellite Q&A with author Stephen Fry and director John Jencks from Hay Festival.
