Amber Arcades

SWN PRESENTS Amber Arcades plus supports Thursday 30th March 2017 Clwb Ifor Bach 7.30pm 8 adv This is a 14+ show Amber Arcades is the moniker of Dutch-born musician Annelotte de Graaf. De Graaf first started writing songs in 2010 while temporarily living in Philadelphia. Back in the Netherlands she put out a first EP in 2012 containing soft-voiced, melancholic folk ballads. Wanting to develop her sound and mature from the safe bedroom folk environment, she got in touch with producer Ben Greenberg (Beach Fossils, The Men, Destruction Unit) to produce a collection of songs she had written over the years. In May 2015, de Graaf flew out to New York to record the songs in the Strange Weather recording studio in Brooklyn, backed by a band consisting of members of Real Estate, Quilt and Kevin Morby. The result is a record that is as dreamy and esoteric as it is gripping, presenting slightly off, floating pop melodies over a mixture of kraut-inspired drums, cutting guitars and fuzzed-out organs. Leading up to the release of the full-length album in spring 2016 Amber Arcades is releasing the Patiently EP containing several stripped-down versions of album-tracks as well as some extra, lo-fi recordings.

GDS Presents The Away Days + Guests

Greendoorstore Presents: The Away Days www.youtube.com/theawaydays Turkish shoegaze might not be a major phenomenon, but given the breadth of their talent, it soon could be. - The Guardian New cut \'Your Colour\' matches a blissful, soaring sonic sweep to songwriting with a real dynamism. It\'s this dichotomy of the physical with the cerebral, the chilled out with the searingly intense which powers The Away Days, taking them away from that well-worn shoegaze sound and into an area very much their own. - Clash \'\'The Away Days project a shimmering, head-swaying spell with lax energy, punchy drums, and lead singer Oguz Can Ozen\'s affected, distant vocals.\'\' - SPIN + special guests free // 18+ // Doors 7PM

Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble / The Bullingdon

Future Perfect presents Ltitia Sadier Source Ensemble The Bullingdon - Oxford Tuesday 11th April 14+ / 7.30pm / 12adv Another New Year, and new shapes are forming - if only we are fortunate enough to notice them! As we spin through this world, we are witness to all manner of combinations unfolding before us - familiar arcs and breaking waves alike, upon all of which it is our choice, our chance and our challenge, to possibly ride. \'Find Me Finding You\', the new album from the new organization called the Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble, manages to strike new chords while touching familiar keys in the song of life. From its percolating opening beat, Find Me Finding You locates new systems within the sound-universe of Laetitia Sadier. When we hear synth lines diving, lifting and drifting, unusual guitar textures, the plucked sound of flat wound bass strings or the bottomless pulsing of bass pedals stepping out of the mix with an exquisite vibrancy, this is the sound of the Source Ensemble! This designation implies a new togetherness phase; alongside long-time collaborators Emmanuel Mario and Xavi Munoz, keyboard and flutes parts played by David Thayer were essential contributions, as well as further keys, synths and electronics from Phil M FU and several intense guitar sequences from Mason le Long. The duet with Hot Chip\'s Alexis Taylor on "Love Captive" (not to mention Rob Mazurek\'s distinctive coronet playing!) gives voice to an ideological cornerstone of Find Me Finding You - that, should we be responsible enough to endeavor into a world of basic incomes and open relationships, we would make astonishing strides as a society. These sorts of things can only be done in agreement with others. The first single, "Undying Love For Humanity", announces its immediacy with protracted rhythms and pronounced vocal expressions. Laetitia proclaims power to the people--now! It\'s a call to arms for the public to recognize and exercise their strength for good, which is just what the world needs now at this moment in time. It doesn\'t hurt that "Undying Love For Humanity" is catchy as hell, now does it? Expressing great compassion and expectation, as well as an abiding belief in an underlying unity that permeates and intimately binds all things and beings, Find Me Finding You is set for release on March 24th! Los Campesinos!

Please note, this show is 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult). Celebrating a tongue-in-cheek viewpoint and a spunky indie punk style similar to Art Brut while applying an assortment of instruments akin to Architecture in Helsinki, the seven-piece group Los Campesinos! (a Spanish name that roughly translates to "the Peasants") formed in 2006 in Cardiff, Wales. The lineup took shape around Cardiff University students Aleksandra (keyboard, horn), Ellen (bass), Gareth (glockenspiel), Harriet (violin, keyboard), Neil (guitar), Ollie (drums), and Tom (guitar), all of whom began sharing vocals (as well as the last name of Campesinos!). Tickets for this event are also available from the venue box office, and can be purchased at face value if payment is made in cash. Please note promoters may increase ticket price if purchased on the night. Please note, you may be required to have your ID scanned at the front door.

The Kooks | Bristol

The Kooks have announced plans for a mammoth Best Of UK tour in 2017. Get tickets on November 25 at 09 am: http://tidd.ly/837575ee The Brighton band formed in 2006 and released their debut Inside In/Inside Out, which recently went five times platinum last month. They have since released three further albums including Konk in 2008, Junk Of The Heart in 2011 and Listen in 2014. Speaking about the latter, frontman Luke Pritchard said three years ago, the band grew bored of the music they were making prior to the record. Speaking about the hip-hop and soul influences on the record, Pritchard said: We were bored of ourselves. People are a bit bored of guitar bands, but at the end of the day, its only the feeling behind it, and music needs that to work. Any genre works, as long as there is feeling behind it. I am inspired by the songs, and thats why it feels good. Get tickets on November 25 at 09 am: http://tidd.ly/837575ee
