House Of Bricks - Kickstarter Finale!

With so many wonderful people in Bristol, we thought it fitting to hold a little event before our final weekend of the \'House of Bricks\' crowdfunding campaign! Any excuse for tea and cake, really... We know it\'s a Thursday, so we won\'t keep you out late. What we will do is have plenty of fun and games, live music, some pretty pictures to look at and some cast and crew to meet. And of course, no Kickstarter event would be complete without a screening of the Kickstarter video, but we\'ll also be screening the Behind the Scenes film of the shoot for those who missed it in London!

Festival Of Ideas: Reni Eddo-Lodge

In February 2014, Reni Eddo-Lodge posted an impassioned argument on her blog about her deep-seated frustration with the way discussions of race and racism in Britain were constantly being shut down by those who werent affected by it. She gave the post the title: Why Im No Longer Talking to White People About Race. The post went viral, spawning a huge number of comments from people desperate to speak up about their own, similar experiences. Galvanised by this response, she decided to dive into the source of these feelings; this clear hunger for an open discussion. She explores what it is to be a person of colour in Britain today, covering issues from eradicated black history to white privilege, the fallacy of meritocracy to white-washing feminism and the inextricable link between class and race. She offers a wake-up call to a nation in denial about the structural and institutional racism occurring in our homes, offices and communities. Tickets 7/6. Book online or purchase tickets in person at Watershed Box Office or on Tel: 0117 927 5100 Mon Fri from 09:00 and Sat & Sun from 10:00.

Paragraph 175: Cube Cinema, Bristol

Between 1933-1945 approximately 100,000 men were arrested for homosexuality in Nazi Germany, half of whom were imprisoned. An estimated 10,000 - 15,000 were sent to concentration camps, and by 1945 only 4,000 survived. 72 years later and hundreds of gay men are still being imprisoned today in Chechnya, Russia. LGBT people in Chechnya continue to suffer forced detention, torture and even murder by the Chechen state, all on the basis of their sexuality. *** ALL profits from this special screening will be donated to the Russian LGBT network. *** The film is a somber, revealing testament to the gay men and lesbians who, for too long, have been excluded from Holocaust history. It is difficult not to recall the phrase that has long been associated with the Holocaust We must never forget. Paragraph 175 is an extraordinary film that serves as an important reminder of the necessity of recording, documenting, and preserving the most shameful chapters of our past so future generations can insure history will never be repeat itself. The Academy Award-winning producing and directing team of Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman examines the persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany and received numerous awards at festivals including Best Documentary Jury Prize for Direction at Sundance 2000, and the Teddy Award for Best Documentary at the 2000 Berlin Film Festival. -------------------------------------------- DIRECTOR: Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman DETAILS: New Yorker Films, 2000, 81 minutes PAY AS YOU FEEL EVENT. Rock N Roll Bingo!

Here\'s how it works: Instead of your boring old numbers being called out in a normal game of bingo, we\'ve replaced them with 15-20 seconds bursts of the most toe-tappin\', bum wigglin\' sing along songs from the past and present! The numbers on the bingo cards have also been replaced with artists and song name. So with your bingo card in hand and your dabber on standby, listen out for the songs being played and mark them off as you would a normal game of bingo.

ReGenesis Weekender

What a weekend! ReGenesis with us for two days in summer. Doesn\'t get better than that eh? Since their inception in 1994, ReGenesis have become a much loved UK act. They were listed as one of Mojo magazines top 10 tribute bands, and featured in Channel Four\'s Top Ten progressive rock acts in the section dealing with Genesis. Patrons include several members of the band including guitarist Steve Hackett who also wrote the sleeve notes for the ReGenesis album \'Live at the Empire\'. The current line-up features a team of skilled and dedicated musicians for whom this is a labour of love, their aim being to deliver, completely live, blistering and memorable onstage performances. "I was lucky enough to be at ReGenesis Empire gig, hearing them faultlessly execute some of our most difficult material. If I close my eyes and listen back to this show its very difficult to tell ReGenesis live renditions from our studio originals except that theyre more in time and in tune than the young band that originally struggled through the complicated rhythms and changes that were early Genesiss stock in trade" - Steve Hackett, 2009 "ReGenesis are not only as good as the genuine 1970s article, I suspect that they may very well often be better, especially on the most intricate aspects of the original band\'s catalogue. If you\'re a fan of the Peter Gabriel-era Genesis from the first time around, or a more recent convert to their classic work, there\'s no better way to see it brought to life in the 21st century. The \'Foxtrot At 40\' tour culminated at a packed 02 Academy in Islington, where ReGenesis received the acclaim that their outstanding musicianship deserves." - Paul Sexton, journalist and broadcaster with the Sunday Times, Billboard magazine, BBC Radio 2 and others. On Saturday, ReGenesis will be presenting, for the last time, their acclaimed performance of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway along with some classic Gabriel era songs. On Sunday, ReGenesis will present Genesis - the very best of the Gabriel years - a selection of the absolute classics in a two hour plus set, drawing from all Genesis albums from the Gabriel era. Tickets 12 adv / 14 door /20 for both nights ReGenesis Weekender: day 1 ReGenesis Weekender: day 2 ReGenesis (band)
