Victoria Wood`s hit BBC sitcom dinnerladies (stet) comes to the stage for the very first time. The original TV show was voted 9th in the all-time list of favourite sitcoms, a remarkable feat for a programme where only 16 episodes were ever made!
The stage play, produced by Jan Hunt and David Graham, is based on the second TV series and follows the reluctant love story of Bren and Tony, originally played by Victoria Wood and Andrew Dunn, who re-creates his TV roles in the stage version. They are egged on by their work colleagues, Dolly, Jean, Twinkle and Anita. Making frequent appearances are caretaker Stan, Phillipa from Human Resources, secretary Jane (played on this tour by Sue Devaney, who portrayed the character in the TV series) and Ben`s truly dreadful mother, Petula.
Andrew Dunn and Sue Devaney are also well known for their roles in Coronation Street, Sue having played Debbie Webster for several years and Andrew having recently finished playing the role of Roger Stiles. Sue is also well known as Liz Harker from BBC TV`s Casualty.
This delightful show has a wonderful warmth and is rich in feel-good humour, with an excellent ensemble cast and has wowed audiences and critics alike on its national tour.
An opportunity to experience some of Victoria Wood`s funniest writing – not to be missed!
