Today officers from Atrium have arrested a man after a vehicle was stopped on Winterstoke Road in Bristol.
Detectives from the specialist drugs team stopped a silver BMW at around 2.30pm this afternoon (Friday 31st December 2010).
Following a thorough search of the vehicle a quantity of white powder, believed to be cocaine, was found.
A 36-year-old man from the Bristol area was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug. He remains in police custody at this time where he is helping officers with their enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Nick Lawson said: "This is a significant seizure and shows our clear intent to stamp out illegal drugs in our force area. Our message is particularly poignant at this time of year when people may be out and about celebrating the festive season.
"If you are offered drugs say no and if you have any information about drug dealing in your area please contact the police or call Crimestoppers. Every piece of information is taken seriously."
Atrium is a dedicated team tackling illegal drugs activity in the Avon and Somerset force area.
