Animal Kingdon New Release
Release new single ‘Two By Two` on February 15th on Warner Bros. Records; Plus UK Tour “The sonic sweep and grandeur of early Radiohead and second album-era Coldplay… lovely, sunny songs, but with that key ingredient – a lurking melancholy” – Sunday Times “Achingly beautiful celestial indie… Will have Sigur Rós quivering with envy” - NME “Insanely pretty, gooey hooks that have both a FM radio and faux-new wave sheen, plus a gorgeously ethereal singer who sounds simultaneously blissful and sad” – Mojo “Lovers of early Coldplay, Smashing Pumpkins and even Mercury Rev will be instantly engaged” – Daily Express Animal Kingdom`s debut album ‘Signs and Wonders` continues to build through word of mouth as its positive reviews here have crossed the Atlantic with further praise from Spin, Blender and Filter in the US. They commence 2010 with the February 15th release of the new single ‘Two By Two` on Warner Bros. Records. Recorded at Seattle`s Electrokitty Studios with Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Les Savy Fav), the eerie melodic flow of ‘Two By Two` features Sauberlich`s vocals floating in the ether like the voice of an imaginary friend. The single emphasises the London quartet`s ability to blend immediate pop hooks with unpredictable arrangements and a dark reflective soul. Animal Kingdom have also confirmed their first London date of 2010 with a special ‘Two By Two` single launch show at The Borderline on February 23rd. Please turn over for the band`s full upcoming tour schedule. Developed over a six week period, ‘Signs and Wonders` includes the delicately crafted, emotive pop of the debut single ‘Chalk Stars` and the dreamy, infectious hook that gives the lovelorn ‘Tin Man` an otherworldly atmosphere. The album is also rich on versatility; the likes of ‘Good Morning`, ‘Silence Summons You` and ‘Into The Sea` share a cohesive, cinematic atmosphere but each song represents a unique statement. Animal Kingdom could be loosely compared to the likes of Mercury Rev, The Cure, The Flaming Lips, Smashing Pumpkins and Grandaddy, but they remain a proposition in which their own individual sound shines through. Animal Kingdom were recently voted Best New Artist of the year in the alternative category by iTunes US, where ‘Signs and Wonders` debuted in the Top 10 of the indie chart, while their album track ‘Bright Lights` soundtracked the season teaser of hit HBO series ‘Big Love.` The quartet also have another influential fan in the shape of XFM`s John Kennedy, who recently named ‘Chalk Stars` as one of his favourite songs of 2009. Animal Kingdom have played shows with bands as diverse as Silversun Pickups, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, Camera Obscura and Snow Patrol and have also hit the festival circuit with dates at Latitude, V, Monmouth and Secret Garden Party. They recently played a number of surprise gigs that were announced on Twitter including John Kennedy`s XFM Exposure night at the Barfly as well as Ronnie Scott`s and Kings College. February 2010 tour dates 16th – Brighton, Freebutt 17th – Birmingham, Hare and Hounds 19th – Oxford, Jericho Tavern 20th – Southampton, Hamptons 21st – Stamford, Mama Liz`s Soul Shack 23rd – London, Borderline
