Quite unlike any open mic night we've seen - most are primarily for music, with occasional spoken word or comedy acts - Risky Rabbit is hosting an open mic for the Harry Houdinis, Paul Daniels and Penn and Tellers of the future, the magicians. Held in the Upper Lounge at the Caroline of Brunswick pub, this brand new night will be running on the first Wednesday of every month, starting on Wednesday 3rd October 2017.
The events will be hosted by local mindreader David Terrence and will feature some of the best magicians from the city and its surrounding areas showcasing new and previously untested material on their peers and the general public. Best of all, the nights are free of charge, with a collection taken at the end of the night. The first night already has 7 confirmed acts, including Brighton magician Rooster who will be trying out some new bits from his upcoming show, DIABOLICAL.
Located a little bit away from the city centre, you're forgiven if you don't know exactly where Caroline of Brunswick is (also, not to be confused with The Brunswick, best known for its acoustic/folk shows and cellar bar). The pub is located at 39 Ditchling Road, which runs parallel to London Road and is alongside The Level. If you're looking for other local landmarks, its near to The Phoenix Gallery and The Hobgoblin and not far from St Peter's Church. If you're driving to the gig, the nearest parking is either London Road or Trafalgar Street Car Parks, which both offer fixed-price evening tariffs from 6pm-midnight. It is also around 15 minutes from Brighton Station and not far from London Road, which is a very popular bus route.
